Beautifully decorated room. We had a family room for extra space. The rooms allow dogs and I was a bit apprehensive it’d smell “doggy” but it didn’t at all and was spotlessly clean. Lovely touches in the room, chocolates, fresh milk in the fridge, coffee machine. Lovely toiletries in the bathroom. They offered 2 free G&T’s too if we’d like them! The breakfast menu was extensive and was delicious. The outside seating area was very extensive with “under cover” options if it rained! Plenty of parking. Staff were very helpful and friendly!

That the staff moved us from our first twin room, we initially had a window that opened directly onto the bar seating area. When I complained, we were moved to a room on the top floor that faced the street and had a view of Arthur's Seat. This was a more spacious room too. That the place was central, close to the train station and had a luggage storage room. We had breakfast included, which is useful if you have a busy day.

I think our stay would have been very poor if we weren't moved! I was told we didn't book breakfast when we had, but was resolved when I showed the booking. The breakfast was odd, stuff ran out and wasn't replaced for ages. It was a mish mash of hot and cold breakfast without doing either really well. Boiled eggs don't go well with sausages and baked beans, scrambled or fried would be better. No tea or coffee in the room, so we brought our own travel kettle.

One of the staff members, I did not get her name was lovely and did her best to be helpful. The young man who eventually assisted with my bags was also very nice. The location was great and very walkable.

There was an issue with my bags from the very beginning. I had 2 large suitcases, 1 small suitcases and a carry-on. when I arrived the first gentleman barely assisted me with my bags. The gentleman who checked me in told me the room was not large enough to accommodate my bags and (strongly) suggested I store them after opening them in the public area to retrieve what I need from them. Originally I was booked to the top floor, he changed my room to a lower floor and let me know he was waving the 'early check-in' fee (I arrived at 1pm) as a favour. I have NEVER stayed at a hotel that didn't allow me to have my bags upstairs, nor have a ever been charged an early check-in fee; I had not idea there was such a thing. I am a digital nomad and travel a lot. In the past 4 months I have stayed in 8 hotels in 4 countries. The next day I spoke to a very nice woman who let me know there was not adequate space to lock my bags away, my bags were left in the lobby area. Yes the entrance to the hotel was locked, BUT that did not guarantee the safety of my belongings. After some discussion I was able to have my bags brought up that evening. Additionally the window in my room had a broken latch and would not open, it was quite hot and stuffy.

The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious. Good location for shopping with plenty of eateries nearby.

The pub behind us was open until 12am playing very loud music. The main entrance didn't feel secure. The main part of the door was made of plastic and a couple of times, people walked passed hitting it hard, asking to gain entry.

Mattresses are very hard and uncomfortable, other guests in the block was very noisy all night in and out all night. Was advised by taxi driver not to go out at night
