The setting is lovely and the pub has great atmsosphere with a real mix of locals and visitors. The staff are so friendly and this is a truly dog-friendly place to stay. There's even a fenced off area for dogs to be able to run off lead. The food is really good too - proper home-cooked pub food and a great breakfast. We felt so welcome and would love to go back.

The beds are quite hard - this is a matter of personal taste. And the sound insulation between the rooms in the A frame chalets isn't great.

Everything! A fabulous hotel in the centre of Grasmere. Spotlessly clean, excellant bathroom with lovely shower. Nice and quiet through the night too. Breakfast in the morning was one of the best we have ever had! Many thanks to all staff!

Good location. Close to the station, shops, and not too far to the Ship Inn-nice little place. It was useful having a microwave and toaster.

The room even with the curtains open has barely any light with all the lights on, very dull. We had to go to reception to ask for toilet roll as we didn't have any in our room when we checked in. We were given an accessible room which we hadn't booked which was fine but the bathroom door being a sliding one and it had no lock and the door wouldn't completely close and I could be seen on the toilet from the gap in the door, was embarrassing.

my bathroom was pretty bad filler type material badly applied around bath and door handle. the bathroom is well past it’s best. neither the bath or sink plugs worked. the bedroom could also do with a complete re vamp curtains a dingy brown, nets dingy furniture old and uninspired. bed comfortable, I slept well and very quite.
