The staff at Bertie were amazing, helpful and so friendly as were the other guests and patrons. On the day we arrived, there had been thunderstorms which unfortunately caused a leak in the kitchen so we were not able to get food from the kitchen so we ordered a takeaway for dinner and were allowed to eat in the bar rather than having to take it to the room and they provided plates and cutlery for us which was great due to having a 4 year old. The location was lovely with a river running right next to it and a Morrisons daily a 2 minute walk. The karaoke at night was really fun and even our 4 year old was allowed to sing and she loved it. Had a pool table and dart board which we had a games of both too.

Well to be honest despite the amazing staff, it was a bit run down and really needs the whole place refurbished. The beds were comfy and clean but the room itself needed a good going over and decorated. Done new furniture needed to. The smell of bleach from some cleaning in the hall was quite over powering and our daughter was almost sick a couple of times due to the smell. I would like to hope Marston's will do some work on it in the near future as it was a shame on how run down it has clearly become. I would go back just to see the staff again and try the food!

A pleasant individually-owned hotel very well positioned for the station and for the historical attractions of Leicester. Public rooms were comfortable and roomy and the edroom that we had was spacious and comfortable. There is a large car park that is free to residents. Generally the staff were cheerful and attentive, particularly in the bar area.

The hotel has a number of meeting rooms so filled up quickly for meetings the next day. After being deluged with delegates, the service at breakfast for the more leisurely-minded visitor was accordingly a bit variable although the quality remained high. We ate twice in the hotel during our stay. The first night was excellent but the second was more variable.

Hosts were helpful and and gentle. The location was really good and room was lovely. The shower and heating was really good.

No lift, and short steps. It was not easy to go up and down with baby and bags. But they kept the strooley downstairs for me to help and also helped carrying my stuff.

I wanted to be able to open windows in the bedroom for some fresh air. Also we couldn't get the half-height front door to open in two parts so that we could have the bottom closed and top open.
