The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.

When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

The efforts made by owners to to make the the public rooms and bedrooms comfortable throughout the ground floor, The rooms had large leather chesterfield sofas, and armchairs upholtered in a patchwork of bright coloured fabrics. The restaurant was very well laid out and the food (cooked to order) was excellent.we had the Ragu which the chef told me was cookiing for 9 hours just as a ragu sauce should be, and you didn't need deep pockets. The ragu £13:95. Also Sensible portions. Breakfast for me (Which is not included) was two poaced eggs with home made hollandaise sauce on a toasted muffin.(38;35) a full English £13;50, ish.

We booked 2 rooms,a double and a twin the twin was very well furnished with armchair and a desk and bedside lamps.the bathrooms were all recently refurbished. The double room was smaller and lacked a desk and bedside lamps. Having no other lights but the large crystal chandelier It was not a problem for us since we only stayed 1 night

We stay at this hotel at least once a year when visiting Southampton. It's in lovely grounds and although outside of Southampton, it's easy to drive or get a taxi into the city. Breakfast is always good although it can get busy if there's been a wedding. Parking is free for guests. We haven't used the pool but our daughter and son in law use it every time and say it's good. Worth noting, the pool is in a separate building.

When there's a wedding/function, staff can be spread too thin and this impacts the service level overall, especially in the main bar area. This time, the lady on reception was a little over assertive, bordering on rude but perhaps she was having a bad day - we all do sometimes.

Incredibly friendly, and good value for money, and accommodated us at the very last minute on a very busy day/night in the area, as there was no budget accommodation available nearby.
Negative section of review
It was out of the way. However our original hotel could not accommodate us on the day due to an emergency with our room at their property, and they actually found this for us and booked it on our behalf.

Receptionists were super helpful with an early check in and baggage storage. Bed was super comfy and a great location for my stay, felt safe. Would stay again if in the area!

It was very peaceful and in a lovely location. The facilities were great and I really liked the concept of the Honesty Bar. The staff were lovely and very helpful.

The only thing I disliked was the mattress on the bed as it was quite hard. Other than that everything was great.

Facilities where all there and staff where friendly and approachable. Handy for parking and transport links

Well located, with access to busses and the tube. Clear flat in a quiet neighbourhood. Supermarket nearby.

Old property with squeaking floors and narrow stairs. The property lock is not safe, would be best to have an extra secure lock, not just a simple door lock.

Breakfast was OK but I prefer it to be cooked to order and fresh.

I do not like rubber eggs. When they sit under heat lamps etc they turn to rubber.

Good proximity to city centre and racecourse.
