Lovely welcome on our next to last leg of C2C Hadrian's Wall bike ride. Bikes stored, booked in and 2 pints of Guinness pulled within 5 minutes of arrival. So welcoming! Restaurant table booked and our evening meal was perfect following a long day on the bikes. Comfy room, great breakfast, great value. Perfect!

Everything was great except the noise from heating or water system I could hear in room 14, I realise they are old buildings, but it did disrupt my sleep as it seemed to start at 6am-6.30....I stayed here before but must have been a different room as I had no issues at all.

I liked the individuality of the place. The gentleman was friendly. I had hoped to have a drink in the pub, but was a little tired. The room was spacious, and the kettle was a welcome inclusion. It was a loft room.

It’s been a while, but there was something with the window, that needs double checking, it was likely that there was no blind. A kind of velux window. I think it could have been a tad cheaper for what it was. The city seems a little jaded, and to be suffering from the cost of living crisis, and I think the prices could perhaps reflect that a little if possible.

Great variety of food for breakfast - shame food not totally served at table (buffet style).
Negative section of review
Breakfast not served at table. Buffet area a bit congested at times.

Location and room was good.

Bad was like sleeping on a rock witha poor quality mattress topper, there would blood stains on the duvet cover. Breakfast was pretty disgusting, all food had been under the heaters for at least two hours and was dried up and inedible. I do believe we should be eligible for a refund on the breakfast,

ROOM: At 11 a.m. Monday, a fire alarm went off directly above my head in my room, emitting a screech above 120dB for a second. I have been dealing with tinnitus my adult life and have been very careful not to be around, especially very loud percussive sounds like gunshots and high-frequency, high-decibel screech sounds. My tinnitus was improving over time until 11 a.m. Monday. This set me back years in my struggle with tinnitus. Now, I hear the sound of a kettle squealing in my ears, and it hasn't let up since this incident. This could have easily been avoided by slipping a warning note under the door the night before. The front desk person just said we do it every Monday. I'm unhappy about that, and it ruined my stay and was and is awful, it's a quality of life issue. In the US, you could get sued for that. RESTAURANT: The other thing I wasn't happy with at your restaurant, Jack's, was the green mold on my hamburger bun, which I, of course, sent back. The server apologized and asked if I'd like something else. Ugh, no, I was totally grossed out. BREAKFAST:Also the omelet maker at breakfast was using the same utensil for the raw ingredients (eggs) as the cooked ingredients. I pointed this out to him, and he just shrugged. You'd be shut down by the health department for that here in the USA. This is a hotel for international travelers in London, not Mumbai!
