When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

Conveniently located for the city centre, the hotel has very efficient check in and out systems. The reception staff were extremely helpful and the breakfast is excellent.

The service at the restaurant was a bit mixed. Generally helpful but desert took a long time to arrive and a gentle reminder was required. The tea station in the room was not refreshed after the first night I was there.

The location was great

There are a few basics any guest should expect when paying premium rate for accommodation, or indeed any accommodation Bedroom curtains that actually close rather than leave a third of the window uncovered- essential in a bungalow Curtain rails that aren’t in danger of falling on you Cleanliness - not having clumps of dust falling from behind radiators Dirty kitchen utensils Exposed lights bulbs in bathrooms An overwhelming smell of dog that couldn’t be missed Dangerous garden furniture

Our 1st room allocated was dirty, unclean window cills, dirt marks on the wall, stained carpet, damaged furniture, and the tv remote was disgusting. The bathroom had scum marks in the shower with dirt in the shower tray not nice! After a trip back to reception (the receptionist actually understanding and polite) we were given ‘an upgrade’ what I can only say was a slightly bigger room still old and worn however it was cleaner (although still not to good standards). Both rooms were really hot, even with the heating off and as the 2nd room was on the front of the hotel it was noisey but we had no choice but to prop the window open with a hanger as they kept sliding shut! I honestly would not recommend this hotel even in the ‘modern’ bar there was food below tables and the view is off rubbish, empty bottles, gas bottles, beer barrels etc although they do try to hide this with partially frosted glass (all well and good if you less than 4ft tall) The building is grand and looks great but it’s run down and dirty once inside.

It was dirty , reception could not be found, so bad that we cancelled the stay and moved to another hotel. Wholly unacceptable at the price they wanted to charged.
