Beautiful, spacious rooms with all the amenities you could need. Super comfortable beds and facilities. Staff are friendly and helpful, food is brilliant and grounds are gorgeous.

The windows are in such poor repair that some (bedroom is worst) cannot be opened as they are completely rotten and falling apart. These windows need replacing - I know it's expensive esp. in a listed building, but it has to be done. The decor was scruffy and tired elsewhere too, but it did not matter too much. The bathroom sink was quite challenging for cleaning teeth and shaving, being so small and under a shelf. We could not find a key for the other door, into Tower Place, so we could not use that way in.

We paid for 2 x superior doubles, which in my opinion we didn't get. We had a very small double bed pushed up against a wall so my partner struggled getting in and out of bed. Air con didn't work in either room, which they obviously knew about and gave us a fan each, the rooms were boiling. One room was by the lifts which was running constantly through the night, appreciate they can't do much about that but anyone staying I would recommend asking to be away from the lift area. I explained we had stayed on numerous occasions and had far better rooms with the same booking details, but they insisted our rooms were both superior even though the photos advertised were different to what was provided. As a regular guest we were on this occasion disappointed.

This hotel/pub is on a very busy noisy road. Rooms very small and dated. Shower room tiny. Bed linen worn. No breakfast available. A fan was provided to cool the room but plugs were not accessible! We didn’t have a meal there but the evening food looked ok.
