We had a family room so for 2 of us was nice and spacious, the bathroom was fairly new and very clean. The buses passed the hotel frequently so not a problem getting to York, car park at the back for the car so off the road, brilliant, would definitely use again

Desk staff were very welcoming and helpful, breakfast staff the same - a very nice experience overall, made very welcome. Breakfast was pre-booked as a cooked meal - it met my expectations.

Nice hotel in a great location, it's just in need of some TLC as starting to look a bit tatty with frayed carpets, dated decor etc. Staff helpful and friendly enough. Decent breakfast.

The pool was pretty cold so although lovely to have, we didn't stay in it for long.

The room we had, although comfortable and clean was a bit tired looking, it needs some upgrades. There was only one plug socket in the room, it was a double but the tray for tea and coffee was awkwardly situated at the other side of the room to the only plug socket. We got round this by moving the tray which really should not have been necessary and it was awkward to charge phones, a necessity in this day and age, boil the kettle and have a light on all at once. Also we were woken by very noisy central heating when it came on in the morning. It must be difficult to fix the noise considering the age of the building but maybe something can be done to remedy this.

Only criticism is that I was offered upgrade which showed photo of four poster bed yet our upgrade wasn’t this. The room was lovely with separate living area but I did feel a little disappointed. Staff and facilities though are amazing

No one on duty to check out before 7:30am Was asked to wait for 45 mins to check out but I could not so I left and ensured I was settled up later
