Was a lovely location to be in away from the crowds of a busy hotel. Was basically an en suite kingsize room, with the addition of a large table and chairs, a microwave, a toaster, and importantly a fridge! Which meant a nice cold beer or glass of wine after a day's walking, and a place to store milk and keep items cool. The en suite was compact, and a nice size shower with plenty hot water. The owners were very good in seeing to my needs, when I asked for a dining chair to be able to sit higher, Barbara came with one within minutes. Was told I could go into their garden and sit to read if needed. I aim to make a return to do the rest of he places I didn't get to see soon!

Two things of which I didnt like, was having to wash breakfast dishes and glasses using the bathroom sink. The other dislike was the poor wifi, of which the signal had to come from the main hub, which was 50 yards away in the house. I did mention this to the owner, but couldnt really do anything about it. A simple plug-in wifi booster in the room would solve it. I was needing to do some online banking and despite a few efforts was unable to get fully connected.

The Buxton is a fantastic spot and I would stay here again if the bed was more comfortable. I think the springs in the mattress were broken as there was a huge dip in the bed which made sleeping very difficult for my partner and I. The breakfast was lovely and the staff amazingly friendly and helpful. I can’t fault everything else

Lovely welcome on our next to last leg of C2C Hadrian's Wall bike ride. Bikes stored, booked in and 2 pints of Guinness pulled within 5 minutes of arrival. So welcoming! Restaurant table booked and our evening meal was perfect following a long day on the bikes. Comfy room, great breakfast, great value. Perfect!

A really beautiful house, with a lovely warm vibe and welcome. Lots of lovely little details in the presentation, and a feeling that you were being unobtrusively looked after! We forgot an item and the hosts took the time to contact us to let us know so we could go back and pick it up.

The staff was very friendly, both at the hotel and at the spa. We had dinner at the restaurant on the first night which was phenomenal (I recommend all the desserts). The rooms are big and the beds are very comfortable.

The pool at the spa was rather small and always full of children during the daytime (nothing against children, it's just not what you expect from a 'spa' experience). Also, for this price, you would expect that they can serve proper juice at breakfast rather than just a '20% juice drink'. Couldn't find any oat milk or other milk alternative either which you would usually expect of a hotel of this price category.

Had difficulty reaching top shelf in kitchen cupboard - could do with a step stool. Stairs to top bedroom were precarious although were managed with care
