Excellent location - Easy to walk into Harrogate through Valley Gardens. The host was easy to contact if there were questions or issues. There isn’t a dedicated car parking space but we always found a space on the road outside. It’s a bit narrow, especially if you’re from Australia, but it’s typical for the area and after a day or two we were used to it. Efficient heating so a nice, cosy cottage.

The smoke alarm is sensitive if you’re frying anything, even with the extractor fan on full. The stairs are steep but good hand rails and typical for the type of property.

All 4 of us being accommodated in a single room was what we were looking for, which we got here. The price seemed decent with breakfast included. Breakfast was loved by all. Lobby was spacious and reading corner for kids with books were well-used. Room and toilet were neat, lovely view from the wide windows. The shower cabin was refreshing and not having a bathtub worked for us.

Location was way far from the village if on walk or using public transport. No option of food services available in the vicinity the hotel. Room with a double bed and a convertible sofa bed could have been bigger. The toilet basin faucet installation was not ergonomic with water splashing out from the big basin bowl. We have had to use extra towels to stop spillage over the vanity counter, which was annoying. There were no toiletries kits like toothbrushes and toothpaste provided, which very often travellers forget. Instead, a vending machine at the lobby below sells them for a price. Sports channels and documentary channels on TV would have been welcome.

The room was very clean, really nicely furnished & looked gorgeous with the Scottish tweed & the funky brass mirrors etc. The shower room was beautifully done, and lovely too. Finally all staff were incredibly friendly and as a woman on my own I felt comfortable sitting in The Bothy, which had a good atmosphere and buzz about it. Enjoyed my stay- thank you.

The owners are welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. The guest house is close to the main activities in town. We really appreciate the homemade shortbread and the sausages for the dog. We are going to come back for sure.
