The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.
2
When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone. Although there was building and renovation works underway at the time of our stay, this was not an issue as it was identified at the time of booking and did not interfere with our stay. I look forward to seeing the renovation works when completed. The breakfast choice is fabulous and good value for money. We'll definitely be revisiting the Royal.

My only issue is the lift - a little small, fits 2 people only.

The location was good, ideal for exploring Harrogate and surrounding areas. Off road secure parking a bonus. We had an issue with bathroom light, this was dealt with very efficiently.

The boiler flue exhausts in your face whilst using door/ key safe. The property was cold on arrival. Stairs felt home made, head height restriction, short treads and risers, exposed carpet gripper. Generally felt dirty cobwebs above bed, pet hair on furniture, the whole property felt in need of a deep clean and painting. No hand towels in kitchen and downstairs toilet, not enough towels provided, washing machine in property but no drier. One rubbish tea towel, we needed to wash all utensils before use., had to dry tea towel on radiator in order to dry our dishes. No TV in bedroom. Bathroom tap hot/cold plumbed the wrong way. Bathroom basin blocked. Shower curtain used as a blind in bathroom. One disposable cloth and sponge for 4 night stay, no spare bin bags. Additional fee for insurance, this should be included in price or covered by landlord’s insurance. Generally the finish was shoddy, it could be a great property but felt uncared for.

It’s was nice to have a kitchen area which had tea , coffee and milk sachets already there. It has great access links to 02 . And walkable to Greenwich centre and park

Not many tables in the bar we would have loved to sit and listen to the live music

The hotel location is fantastic. The reception is beautifully decorated and so are the rooms.

The bedding had a hole in. I paid extra for a double room instead of a twin however it was still two single beds with a double sheet over, the gap between the beds due to the frames made this quite uncomfortable. The pillows provided are way too soft but I suppose that’s down to personal preference. It’s a good job there’s a Starbucks on the ground floor as the tea/coffee making facilities provided were not really fit for purpose. The limescale in the kettle, dust on the cups and tea sachets certainly showed it hadn’t been used in quite a while. The shower tray seemed to have a layer of dirt on top like it had just been cleaned in a rush and not properly. There was also a used plaster on our floor. We were on floor 6 and the music from the terrace bar was really loud through to about 12/1am.

The beds are very comfortable, the room spacious. Continental breakfast was ok. Good parking

However the cooked breakfasts were not good. Also the evening meals were below par, and did not like the crafty underhand service charge not being made aware of. Staff polite but not friendly.

I had gone to great lengths during the booking process to ensure we had two rooms with larger beds. On checking in this was no longer the case as room allocation had been changed and initially I was told moving was not possible due to being “fully booked”. However when some pressure was applied rooms were finally allocated to our original request. However I do not understand how they can have been fully booked when I was literally bombarded with emails prior to check in offering room upgrades for an extra £100 a night! The staff service at the bar during the afternoon was poor to say the least and breakfast was a shambles. The majority of the morning staff are young and inexperienced so I would respectfully suggest this aspect could do with some training and improvement in order to achieve a much better guest experience.

Room was a bit shabby, needed some TLC. But was fine for just a night’s sleep.
