Absolutely perfect place to stay with the most welcoming hosts, who take the time to make you feel extremely welcome to their piece of paradise. The Shepards Hut is a perfect gateway, for couples looking to get away from it all. With stunning views across the Eden valley. Nature and small holding animals are all around you. The hosts attention to detail is seen through out the hut, it has everything you would expect and more. The hosts supplied all the wood and firelighters at no additional cost. The welcome loaf, butter, milk, eggs, jams, wine and marshmallows were another unexpected surprise. 5 minute walk from local pub and telephone box library.

Nothing it was perfect.

The location was just great, compared to the streets closeby it was way quieter - but in the early mornings it can get busy as well. Very close to many hotspots and lots of public transport closeby, and 15 mins walk from King's Cross! Totally recommended if you are planning to do lots of visiting, so less time spent in the hotel room.

The shared bathrooms could definitely be cleaner - during our 4 night stay, no cleaning has been done in the room and neither in the shared bathroom. Room was quite small (it was a 2 single bed room),

I normally take the safe ish chain hotel route and was delighted when I chose this instead. Great set up, fascinating history, convenient, will plan some of my future business trips around this accommodation. Thanks team

Brilliant location, friendly and relaxed staff, clean and well decorated. Great to have a bar downstairs.

Our room was small, but really fine for the one night we were staying. Some noise as people passed our door at night - I’m a very light sleeper though! Better sealed door would have been beneficial?

Accessible downstairs bedroom and shower room. The location had an interesting and changing view.
Negative section of review
Light in shower room flickered, hadn’t been fixed even though reported by a previous customer. The off road parking was on grass in the back garden and not suitable for wheelchair. The outdoor seating was unsuitable and plastic chairs split and broken which was disappointing as the weather was sunny and warm. Laundry facilities were great but it lacked a washing basket to transfer wet clothing to the clothes line, also a few washing pods for use of would have been nice - minor issue. Overall a good property and worthy a re-visit.
