The quintessential English country pub. Which would appear to be quite difficult nowadays, however the team here have a lovely setup. Great welcome and quiet location in this beautiful village. Super rooms and food.

Lovely hotel in great location. Very clean, comfortable bed, good power shower. No breakfast facilities but they provided a good breakfast bag. Very enjoyable one night stay albeit a bit expensive.

The Shipp Inn is in a perfect location. We had a view of the harbour from our room. Breakfast is very enjoyable and the room is lovely and clean. Would definitely stay again.

Staff were exceptional if overworked as there weren’t enough. Hotel needs a paint job. Scruffy in places.

Food wasn’t brilliant. Last night they had a coach party in so service in the dining room was slow. They brought our main course in before our starters and then I think they put them under the warmer so when they brought the back, they were cold and dry. We left them. I never got the crostini’s with my starter either. Housekeeping didn’t leave us our morning sugar or any toilet rolls.

Good location, close to attractions. Easy walk from train station. Bed was very large and comfortable.

What we didn't like was the same as most of the other customers "the shower" poorly designed with the water splashing over most of the bathroom. No ventilation other than a window - water splashing onto very large sink and swelling the wood. Breakfast was OK, probably better not to offer cooked breakfast if bacon and sausage are cooked in microwave and you have to boil your own eggs in a pot. Although we knew when booking that there wasn't a fridge, there was sufficient room to place a fridge- would be handy. Minor point but annoying was a vibration of wall and bed came on around midnight and stayed on till morning- Not sure what it was but made sleeping difficult even though the bed was very comfortable.

Host was easy to communicate with and dropped keys off right away.

Husband got locked out because there was a bit of confusion with the front gate code-he dialed a number per the directions of the machine then entered the code, but the code included that in its first digit and he didn't realize.
