The location is in the High St and just a few minutes away from the river, church and other High St shops/pubs/restaurants. It looks very ‘oldy worldy’ from the outside and the same inside. Like stepping back in time a couple of centuries. The interior decor has been preserved or sympathetically reproduced and the main staircase is original as are the sloping floor in our superior double bedroom on 2nd floor. There was a few creaks from an adjacent room, but only to be expected as such an old hotel. The staff we engaged with were exceptionally friendly and helpful. And we could choose where we wanted to eat our meals (had breakfast and a Sunday roast) The car park spaces are limited due to location of the hotel, but we found a space and left it there for the 3 nights we stayed. There is a pay & display carpark directly behind the hotel where the charges were £6 for 24hrs. I would recommend for a short stay.

Our bathroom had a very small shower which may pose a problem if you are a large size.

Great location, close enough that the town centre/harbour was just a short walk but just far enough away that there was no noise disturbance during the night. The beds were very comfortable and the decor within the home is really lovely, with some nice homely touches like plants, board games, blankets etc. The home was immaculately clean, with a decent size and volume of towels etc. We just used the home as a base so didn't do any cooking but there seemed to be plenty of tableware and utensils with a decent size fridge/freezer, hob, oven etc. so would definitely be somewhere you could use as a more long-term base.

Only 1 set of keys for 5 adults made logistics a bit tricky when we weren't all coming and leaving at the same time. This is due to the positioning of the lock-box outside the entrance-way and fact there are two doors that need locking/unlocking (the entrance-way and the home itself). You also had to be able to lift quite a heavy entrance-way door/gate in order to lock/unlock it which was a bit tricky on your own, but this wouldn't deter me from staying again.

Old property tastefully upgraded in a modern boutique-style. Bedroom & bathroom very clean & a real bonus to have the use of a spotless kitchen, fridge & dining area downstairs. Owner very welcoming, helpful & friendly. Great location: just a 10 min walk to Plymouth Hoe & only 5 mins walk to Mount Batten ferry from the Barbican.

Kitchen/dining area is a real bonus but a microwave & a sink for eg washing fruit, salad etc, would have been useful.

I loved this place it is a cabin type building with lots of space to enjoy a coffee after a hike. Room was a good size. Plenty of parking. Excellent location.

Only down side was having little staff around when I needed to access the toilet or get a coffee. Meaning I called a number to be make them aware I was there. With only 1 staff booking guests in and serving on the bar at the same time felt a little frustrating. But not enough to stop me staying again.
