How does it work?

    It starts with a booking

    It starts with a booking

The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.

  • 2

    Followed by a trip

    Followed by a trip

When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

  • And finally, a review

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

Hotel is a beautiful Victorian townhouse building with lots of history which you can read about in the lounge bar. The staircase and library really are lovely. Friendly staff who are happy to help where they are able. Our room had a great view over Edinburgh and of Dean Village. The hotel is walkable to both train stations and is quiet and pleasantly located. Lift was working (though tiny and slow!). Room was spacious and comfortable.

    • Negative section of review

Management seems to be cutting corners here and there - e.g. not replacing toiletries so you have to ask for these, no fridge in the room (just a hole where it clearly used to be!). The breakfast is a bit underwhelming, especially the continental buffet which had cheap supermarket bread, limited replenishing and some dirty plates. There were woodlice in the shower tray from time to time. Front of house staff seemed a little inexperienced though were trying hard and very friendly. The room cleaning/bed making should be better for this type of hotel. 4th floor rooms can get very hot. The lift is tiny (fits 2 people) and slow.

Loved the grounds and the welcome we recieved. They greeted us with a free drink each and suggested that we take a walk through the garden. The the food was incredible, the beautiful manor house was so cozy, and the en suite even had a clawfoot bathtub. Our stay was the highlight of our weekend in Bath.

    • Negative section of review

It was quite a hot evening and we couldnt open the larger window which was bolted. It makes sense of course, but a fan in the room or some other solution would have been perfect.

The location was good, very close to Stratford station which helped me get to work easily. The bed sheets and bathroom were clean.

    • Negative section of review

Way too expensive given the size of the room, however I can understand the price was more for the location than the bathroom. Just a note for housekeeping: the table tops were extremely dusty.

The air conditioning unit started making a loud sploshing noise just before I went to bed. Despite turning it off, this continued intermittently until about 4am. I tried visiting the reception at around midnight, but the (very friendly) member of staff on duty had no idea how to fix the problem and said he couldn't give me another room. I couldn't work out if this was because there weren't any or because the only ones available were of a higher price than I was paying. I was staying in the area for a work conference, so having such an interrupted night's sleep was quite problematic. It's a shame because the room was very lovely otherwise.
