Staff were very friendly and helpful (they double checked I had done the parking payment correctly). Room very comfortable and clean. I liked the choice of 'firm' or 'soft' pillows. I love the better quality (Dove own brand) hand soap, shampoo and body wash. Very quiet despite my room overlooking the road.

Having stayed at this hotel before, I was a little disappointed this time around regarding the limited range of hot breakfast choices. I also disliked there being 2 different items in one heated container as there was some cross contamination. We have family members who have allergies (not with me this time) but this would have ruled out some items for them. Also, I wasn't forewarned about the car park having about a sixth of its parking spaces removed due to building work next door. I had to change my plans slightly as I was worried that if I moved my car I might not have got a parking space Saturday night.

Excellent position for watching the harbour also for access to the town/restaurants/pubs and shops. Comfortable and nicely decorated, kitchen well equipped. Good place as a base to see Northumberland.

side by side fridge and freezer was difficult to close as doors and need some repairs as it was frustrating having to work out getting them both to close. Not possible to sit out on the balcony as its not very wide and there were no seats,

It was a very peaceful stay in a beautiful area, just on the edge of Dartmoor. The beds were soft and they offered oat milk for the room. Would definitely return!

The evening menu didn't really cater for vegans, hence we are elsewhere. The WiFi didn't work, although the staff were helpful, and explained that they were moving over to fibre optic.The outdoor area was closed.

Poor service at the bar. A party of 5. One of the party only received their 1st drink approx 40 mins after arrival. Didn’t have the ingredients for the 1st cocktail ordered, didn’t stock the wine that was the next choice. 3rd choice drink (another wine) took approx 20-30 mins to come because the bar staff forgot about it. The bill was presented with the 40 min late drink on the bill and was asked to pay despite the other 4 in the party having received their 2nd drink order. This should have been automatically comped. Room was on le of their untended rooms. The room fridge didn’t work, we let the staff know, they said they’d replace it but didn’t. The room’s air con didn’t work and windows could not be opened due to street noise. Mattresses were very old and sagged in the middle. All round poor. Upon check out we complained. The late drink was refunded and the room charge discounted 50%.

The shower and bath were awful. No pressure in shower, shower curtain sticks to you so you couldn’t move around to wash, didn’t keep heat. Bath ran extremely slowly. Took too long to fill! This meant my 79 year old mother in Law couldn’t wash properly for 3 days and our preparations for the wedding we were made extremely difficult The seating (sofa etc) was extremely uncomfortable and none of the seats seated a grown man comfortably.. The rugs are extremely dangerous and a few of had falls tripping over them as they moved around on the floor. The TV was so small my Mother in law could hardly see it! This cottage was very overpriced especially as other wedding guests stayed in The Granary for around the same price!!
