I loved the old grandeur - beautiful. What a gorgeous space to sit and relax in . Location - perfect with a stunning view . Large room and bathroom very clean . Staff very helpful especially Vanessa on reception who went above and beyond to help me with my luggage , I couldn’t have manage without her , such a helpful pleasant young woman an absolute asset to the hotel . I will definitely be back ❤️

I loved the place. It was a perfect location to explore from. The town has everything you need, and where I stayed had a warm, homey feel. It was well heated, Jan, my host, was lovely and breakfast was delicious. My only regret was that I checked out a day early accidentally, looking at my Australian time/date on the laptop.

The hotel is in a great location and only a short walk from the quay area where you’ll find the Hippodrome, the Beacon and lots of places to eat.

The hotel and the room in particular felt very tired. There was no character, if just felt like a cupboard with no soul. Right outside our window was some sort of piece of industrial machinery that made a loud noise every five minutes or so. Thankfully the windows did have good soundproofing (one positive) but it meant we couldn’t have the window open at all. The room also wasn’t cheap, if I’d paid half the amount I probably wouldn’t have felt so bad about the sorry state of the place, but as it is it’s quite an overprice for what you get. I was glad it was only for one night.

The location of this property was fabulous.

First and foremost whilst me and my two girl friends were checking out and packing our bags, I reached underneath the bed to check that nothing had been dropped. Whilst doing so I felt something very sticky, immediately I ran to the toilets to wash my hands as I felt instantly sick at the thought of what this could be. I am 7 months pregnant and catching a germ is not something I wanted from this trip. I went back to the area and asked my friend to look underneath the bed and pull the bed across as I cannot lift and sat there was a used condom with rose petals surrounding it further underneath the bed! We all felt instantly sick at this point and furious as our room clearly hadn’t been cleaned to the standard it should of been cleaned to. Further more, the hotel are not owning up to what we have found and believe the room was cleaned to the standard it should of been which is absolutely disgraceful! I am pregnant and this used condom could be contaminated with alsorts! We reported this as soon as we checked out and the staff looked absolutely disgusted to which we thought they would take it seriously but as the days passed and emails have been sent, they are telling us that all the criteria of cleaning had been met! I’m sorry but it clearly wasn’t met and corners had been cut, to which they are unable to completely say whether or not corners were cut because they are just going by what the housekeeping staff are telling them. The worrying thing here is if you have an issue with this hotel, chances are they will try to find ways around it and try to make out like what you have found is nothing to do with them which rings alarm bells for me. A used dirty condom.. absolutely disgusting! Stay away from this place to avoid anything like this happening to you. We aren’t stopping here with the complaint and we are taking matters further as this is a very serious matter which shouldn’t be shoved off by the hotel.
