Our hosts Andy and Sarah were genuinely nice people. They were friendly and helpful giving us advice on transport and local establishments. Great breakfasts, clean room and adequate sized bathroom. It felt like a home away from home. Grittleton is a small village and public transport was very limited which we failed to find out beforehand. Taxis are expensive. It is essential to have your own means of getting around. We would stay again if we ever were to go again to the Badminton Horse Trials. Great pub in Grittleton, the Neeld Arms!!

The hotel was cheap. We wanted a stay close to Dover for an early morning ferry, and this was by far the cheapest in the area. We were placed in a far-off corner of the hotel so at least were away from the noise. Beds were comfortable enough.

Car parking was an absolute free for all, no markings, people parked everywhere, heavy machinery parked across a number of bays making them inaccessible. The hotel seems to probably cater for stag/hen/similar groups as there was a lot of male groups and female groups, all carrying booze around and making a lot of noise. This wasn't an issue for us, as we were roomed in a wing through 2-3 doors, so it was pretty quiet. There was no hot water in our room - the kids showed in lukewarm water and myself and my wife in cold water. I told the reception upon leaving and wasn't exactly impressed with the little more than a shrug and a nod.

It’s a shame you can’t smoke on the balcony if I was to have one complaint but I understand if the owner is a none smoker and blows into the apartment he is living in below

The bed was sagging in the middle and also broken in places. The bath was so narrow I had trouble standing in it for a shower. The shower had no pressure. The entire room was shabby

The building is far more run down than it looks in the pictures... the room we were given stank of damp... we had to leave and book somewhere else... Appalling place and will never go back. Disgusted that it was a part of Travel lodge. Won't be using them again either.
