Communication prior to arrival was very clear making it easy to find and check in to the property. The renovation has been done to a very high standard and it was spotlessly clean. The kitchen area was well stocked with everything you might need and the tea, coffee and biscuits were a nice touch. The idea to leave the small sachets of butter is a great idea. Even though it was June the bedroom was cold, but once the heating was on it warmed up nicely.

There was some noise from the live music at the pub, but this couldn’t be heard from the bedroom, so didn’t impact sleep. The bed is comfy but located up against a wall so the person on the inside has to climb over the other to get up. Due to the layout of the building the sofa was set sideways on to the TV, making it difficult to watch. It’s also not the most comfiest to relax on. Due to the different levels and steep stairs this wouldn’t be suitable for anyone with mobility issues.

The room size is okay, and the location is great. The staff is nice and there is a large onsite parking area, which costs £11 a day and is very convenient. It's also one of Durham's best hotels.

However, there are several downsides. The roof is low, and there is no individual shower—only a shower over the bathtub. The separate cold and hot water taps are quite inconvenient. Additionally, the overall building and facilities are very old. It's a bit overpriced, likely due to the regatta that weekend.

The property was very modern, clean and surprisingly quiet.

There is nothing I didn’t like. I would just mention it is a walk up hill if you are walking to it if you’ve not driven out. I’m used to walking up hill so it didn’t really bother me. I would suggest a small fridge if the owners could squeeze one in somewhere as I would have bought something to store in it for breakfast and some wine!

Fantastic location. Lovely decor. Very comfortable.

Scatter cushions very dirty. Sofa a little dirty. Toilet stained and smelly, would help if some cleaning products were left in property. TV didn't work. Really bad interference. Un watchable. Hairdryer faulty.

Location was very handy for our requirements

Nothing really, there was noise from the bar, which would be expected, noise when other residents returned to their rooms, again, to be expected . Room small and compact but was clean and had everything we needed

Plenty of space to relax down stairs.

The weird air freshener bin thing by the main door. Very unpleasant. Is it even healthy to pump that stuff into the lobby?
