It's been a while since I was in Manchester. I used to live in the area of the hotel this is why I picked it. I had stayed there before. I like the location, it is close to nice pubs, to the gay village (I am not gay!) and the China town. You only see students around since Manchester has many of them and the hotel is adjacent to a student hall and inside of what used to be UMIST (now U. of Manchester). Everything in the hotel is overall OK although some things could be better. Coffee in breakfast was fine!

I had a double bed (thanks!) but the room was small for this size of bed. So it was a bit tight when you sat down at the desk to do some work. The bed had a reasonable mattress, no problems, but it could have been better. Breakfast was OK, I did not like the fried eggs I tried one day.

Debby was a warm and welcoming host. The homemade full english breakfast was absolutely delicious and there was a great amount of choice. The room was designed to be homey and cosy yet have every amenity one would need provided - incredibly comfortable. My stay was too short if anything - would highly recommend!

There's little I would have on improvements. If I were to nitpick to find something, I would say a more powerful warm shower would be welcome, especially when you've spent a day rambling the neolithic monuments and the beautiful but windy landscape of Orkney.

Great location in heart of Winchester. Walking distance to Cathedral, shops and restaurants. Lovely walled garden at rear of the property, perfect for a relaxing drink or lunch. Good buffet breakfast selection.

The bedrooms are tired and in need of refurbishment. Not a great view from our windows. Probably better to ask for a garden view.

My top floor room had a dealbreaker flaw: absolutely no plugs within even remote reach of the bed. Only a couple plugs in a nook far across the room under the computer monitor. None in the bathroom either. Because I use a breathing machine I was forced to rearrange all the furniture in the room and drag the mattress onto the floor just so I could use my breathing machine while sleeping. Kind of stunning- I have traveled to 50+ countries worldwide including Romania, Bosnia, Namibia, China, Russia, Albania, Guatemala, Brazil, etc. and never have I been unable to plug in anything for use while in bed. Surprised this is even allowed. An extension cord would fix this. I was so surprised I took photos. As lots of others have noted, rooms are pretty barebones. No coffee or tea provided; curtains too thin to stop the sun from waking you at 5:30 am, etc. Disappointed.
