We liked the choice of breakfasts and evening meals. We loved our room, which was very well appointed, spacious and accommodating. We liked the little interior design concepts. The quiz night and special curry evening were great. Parking was excellent. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The location was fabulous with wonderful scenery, and was close to Wells and other places of interest. The hotel is spacious and offers lots of different configurations of public rooms for meals etc. We were very pleased with our choice of hotel.

Lack of vacuuming in the room, as well as general lack of dusting and cleaning in the public areas eg on top of the piano, windows and mirrors where there were smears which weren't seen to. We didn't like that the main hotel doors were left open all night and we felt a tiny bit insecure because of that, although the bedroom doors had proper locks on. We'd suggest a proper locking system on the hotel entrances where guests could use their pass keys for admittance. Breakfast offerings could have been replenished more frequently, ie fruit bowls, bread for toast etc, as guests had to keep asking for these. Also, staff could have cleared tables of finished plates more quickly between courses, as these were left lying around for the duration of guests' meals. All these niggles are very small and easy to put right, which would make this hotel a fantastic and unusual find in the middle of the countryside.

Breakfast was beautiful! Full English, just what we needed after a Saturday night out. The hosts were amazing, so friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and very comfortable. A great place to stay when in Blackpool

This hotel is not up to the standard expected of a 4-star hotel or the £267 per night charge. Despite being told by staff that the hotel has recently been refurbished, the decor is extremely tired and it seems there has been a lack of basic maintenance. In communal areas, the carpets are frayed at the edges in the hallways, there was graffiti in the lift, the paintwork is marked and scored on the walls and the entrance is dull and uninviting with worn/damaged furniture. As soon as we entered our room, we were met with the smell of damp and the sight of two wicker chairs which were worn and the paint had come off the arm rests. We were told by a member of staff this was part of the “shabby chic” decor theme. I can confirm there was no other representation of a “shabby chic” theme in the room or any other part of the hotel, so the chairs were in fact just unsightly. The room was also unclean, with hairs on the bathroom floor and bedding and the mirror looked like they had been wiped with a dirty cloth. After only ten minutes in the hotel and despite travelling from afar to stay at this hotel as a treat for my partner’s birthday, we were left with no choice but to leave and not stay the night. The staff, although apologetic, tried to justify/ argue the points we raised and offered no real explanation or solution. I am therefore doubtful there will be efforts from the staff to rectify the issues for future guests. We received a full refund.

Didn't get the room we booked. Staff not very helpful at times. No car park and no notice about it. Room stuffy and with windows open very loud. Unable to swim as there was a class in there. Checkout time too early.
