The hotel looked lovely when we arrived and it has a nice modern feel to it. We were greeted by the lovely Sarah on reception, and we were so pleased our rooms were ready before the allocated check-in time. The pool area was great for an early morning swim. The bar area was fab, and the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful, especially over a mix-up with a room service order. The staff who dealt with that were amazing and went out of their way to ensure that we were properly looked after with coffee and pastries after missing breakfast. The location was perfect for jumping on the tube.

I was disappointed with my room allocation. I had booked the same room type as our friends, and her room was a lot larger than ours. She had a dressing table, a bigger bathroom and plenty of space to move around. The room we were given was tiny with hardly any room to move and was at the end of a corridor, next to the door to the stairs, which constantly banged from people coming in and out of it. There was nowhere to sit and get ready so i had to sit on the edge of the bed and try to look in a decorative mirror that was hung on the wall. There was a very loose electrical socket next to the bed that I was too scared to touch. The bathroom was so small you couldn't get to the sink without having to squeeze past the toilet and the door (I banged my hips on the door latch numerous times) I felt very let down by this, especially when I saw the room our friends had been given.

The grounds of the hotel are nice for a little stroll around, the staff were friendly and the pool and spa areas are nice and clean. Breakfast was a self service buffet that was very nice with a good selection.

We stayed at Horwood House for two nights and was soon disappointed once we got into our room. Unless you are specifically paying for a manor suite, you will be staying in the characterless new wing that resembles a Travel lodge. The photos on all the websites are very misleading. Expedia and Booking.com show images of the manor house. The Horwood House website has a very smart intro showing the long drive and the manor house. But neither show the contrasting reality of the new wing where almost all rooms are located. Photographs of rooms are taken at careful angles that don’t show the new wing. The new wing is a pain to find your way around. The stunning lounge in the Manor House looks online like a place to sit and relax however the reality is that the small bar was never open and that part of the building was off limits due to the weddings. It wasn’t being used Saturday afternoon but it was a total mess. The staff hadn’t cleared up and empty glasses and bottles were all left (see photos) . I did complain at the time and reception said they would get it cleaned but this never happened. The Classic Room that we stayed in was smaller than any Travelodge room and the view was more prison block and manor grounds. We were disturbed by people walking past our room, as the walls are not particularly soundproofed. The food in Harry’s Restaurant / Bistro was okay but not fantastic and over priced. Overall the stay wasn’t shocking but not a luxury stay if you are not specifically staying in the Manor House. Just be aware before booking.

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I had so much fun while staying in OneFam with lots of great group activities. The location is also perfect, just a short walk to the London Eye.
