Dundrum is a fantastic location to explore the Down area. Try Dundrum Pub for award-winning food and great value for the money. The Bay is a stone's throw from the house, as are pubs, the chip shop and the Pizza Takeaway. There are also other restaurants in Dundrum Village but they are a bit on the pricey side if you are on a budget. However, there is a Spar convenience store for all those little nik-naks. Newcastle Town is the main hub for the nightlife. The shops, Lidl supermarket, cafes and all the other eateries are all in close proximately as is the free parking. The beach is set back off the main street, with children's play areas, with a backdrop of the Mourn Mountains on the horizon.

The issue concerning me was the lack of Kitchen Hygiene. The fridge was cramped with old rotten salad food at the bottom of the fridge. The microwave was filthy and I would not use it. The owner left dirty dishes whenever she had something to eat or drink. Dead flowers in the kitchen and living room were left in murky water. The smoke alarm in the kitchen is covered with a merry gold glove. No locks on the bedroom door. Only one key for the whole house, resulting in the property being left unlocked. An unknown stranger walked into the house introduced himself and announced " I am a friend of the owner, and left a pizza and a bunch of flowers. The heating and the water were turned off twice at the main switch, but we managed to locate it and switch it back on. The owner advised me not to say too much to her immediate neighbours. Strange requests I thought! I am aware she has had very good reviews, but they are 1 nighters, so they would have endured it, and I would have done the same. However, 7 days and nights was too much. We tried several Bed and Breakfasts, Apartments, and Hotels to no avail, a testament to the location and popularity of County Down. I will not be returning and will not be forwarding her property for 4 in a bed. (Owner. Please do not contact me again)

Positive section of review
The staff at the hotel were friendly and efficient. The hotel is in a great location and it's just out of the hotel door for either shopping, restaurants and cafes, or a walk along the sea front. I guess that the hotel has been refurbished relatively recently as the decorations and furnishings were in good condition and what you should expect to enjoy in a 4* hotel.

Hotel was just a stopover after arriving at Bournemouth airport, but the staff were excellent and the food standard and beer were way above 'pub food'. Comfy quiet room. We will be back.

Unfortunately the sounds of the pub do filter up into the rooms although the pub closes fairly early so that's not too big a problem. The ceilings are very low so if you're tall watch out.

The bed and sofa were not comfortable, it felt like plastic, even two days later I still feel I haven’t caught up on sleep as it wasn’t very comfortable to sleep on and the pillows were annoying too.
