Breakfast was absolutely delicious , Staff very helpful and friendly. The Hotel is only minutes away from the " Shambles " and so Central to other attractions York has to offer. The room was spacious and clean. I have very much enjoyed my time at the Galtres Lodge Hotel. at my next visit, i request a room at the back of the hotel. The restaurant food was beautiful prepared and cooked to a very high level .

The room overlooked the busy Pedestrianize Road and a lot of noise ( street entertainer, etc) during the night the road had been still very lively.

The emails from Andrew and Nicola prior to our arrival were really informative and put us at ease. The accommodation was spotless; it was really clean and tidy. The site has a lovely play area for children and you can also visit their chickens and pigs.

We needed more than one toilet roll for the week but when I asked for another role we were told, as we were in self-catered accommodation, we would need to buy that ourselves. I've never stayed in anywhere where I've needed to take toilet roll, even for self-catered. It was a very minor issue but just worth noting to take some with you.

The location was great. Easy to book and communicate with hosts. Apartment was clean and pleasant.

No air con or fans. Heating via 2 free standing electric heaters. My number 1 priority in any hotel or apartment (note; never studio for this reason) is a seperate seating/living area to where I sleep. On asking about this I was assured this would meet my requirements, when in fact there wasn't one. My own fault for not being clearer but a hard back chair at a dining table or office chair at a desk might be good for my back pains but not so great to relax and unwind in. Due to bereavements after booking, I asked to cancel. I gave more than 1 weeks notice and was told "No" but on explaining the situation was offered the chance to change the dates but kept the original date which was 3 days after one funeral and 2 days before the other. My request for an 11am check out was ignored so i kept to the 9.30am. Dear God. 9.30am ??!! Earliest EVER, anywhere. LOOK AGAIN at this.

Room very bare and Spartan. Whole flat has hard echoey surfaces. Noise from rest of building, busy road and children outside. Only a thin hand towel provided.
