destination reviews from real travellers

How does it work?

  • 1

    It starts with a booking

    It starts with a booking

The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.

  • 2

    Followed by a trip

    Followed by a trip

When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

  • And finally, a review

    And finally, a review

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

I have a food allergy and notified the staff of that at breakfast on our first morning and the next day when I sat down for breakfast, they said "your breakfast is being prepared" without me having to remind them or anything, which was really great. That kind of service extended to all staff we interacted with”

  • Kloster Malgarten

    - “It’s simply amazing! Such an old building with a soul, restored and redecorated in the original style. The heart of the owner and his persistence created a one of a kind place. I felt welcome and could relax and de-stress and I lingered for hours not wanting to leave this place.”

  • Paon Desa Ubud

    - “Overall, my wife and I loved this place as a small honeymoon location to stay. The view from our room was amazing and the rice field is really something in the mornings and evenings. The staff there was always so helpful and made sure to accomodate our every need. They would go above and beyond for us and made sure we were always happy. A big shoutout to Edi who works there for always taking extra special care of us and cooking us an amazing and tasty breakfast. I would definitely book here again on my future travel to KL.”

  • Boutique Apartments Amsterdam

  • Sleep&Fly

    - “Close to the airport and great value for money, super clean.”

  • Casa da Ribeira Cottage

    - “The apartment is clean and cosy and has blackout curtains and fly screens (for windows and doors) which we appreciated. Furthermore there is a nice private terrace and shared garden. We didn't meet João in person, but communication via Booking went very smoothly. Also the self check-in is very easy. As for parking: there are a few places in the driveway, but there also is a convenient public parking space nearby where we parked our car every night. The apartment is located in a quiet street, but is still pretty close to the city center (1.5km - 2km) where you can find all necessary supermarkets, restaurants, ... And it's also located quite central on São Miguel which makes it the ideal base to explore the entire island.”

  • Jockey Club Suites

    - “Amazing value. Perfect location. Absolutely clean.”

Lovely property, kitchen is very well equipped, decent size kitchen table for your meals, there’s an outdoor area to sit for when it’s sunny. Lovely views looking out to the hills. Lovely clean spacious bathroom with clean towels, though we had took our own towels so didn’t use them. Night lights plugged in on the stairs which is really good especially if you are in the double bedroom above, as you have to come down a small flight of stairs if you need the loo through the night. Wi-Fi really good to.

    • Negative section of review

Kitchen gets pretty dark once the sun goes down due to overgrown back garden. Also, there is a sitting room upstairs on the same floor as the single bedroom and bathroom, sitting room would be better off as double bedroom, as the double bedroom is another flight of stairs above.

The hotel was close to most tourist sights if you like to walk. It was about 20 minutes to the castle and 45 minutes to the far end of the royal mile. It was quiet and more like a neighborhood and away from tourist areas There were plenty of restaurants in the neighborhood including coffee places if you decide not to have the breakfast. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable,

The hotel felt like it was cutting corners in the interest of "keeping the price down". Their words. The rooms were tiny with no place to sit except on the bed. There was a fold out chair strapped to the wall that you could place in a corner . There was no coffee/tea service in the room, and if you don't get the breakfast you have to pay 2.50 for a coffee (in my case instant def) in the lobby. If they didn't want to place it in the room, they easily could have placed it in the "ironing room" on each floor of free in the lobby. There were only bath towels and no hand towels although they did give us a third bath towel. There is no phone in the room and they give you a number to dial from your own phone if you want the desk, Felt more like a hostel than a hotel, I would not stay here again but would look for someplace else.

The location of the hotel is great! Water, Milk and coffee/tea are also available free of charge! Unfortunately we didn't manage to eat in the hotel's own restaurant... but we'll make up for that next year!

Bar staff could not get simple orders correct. Bit more selection on the continental side of breakfast would have been nice.

Plenty of space in cottage accommodation

    • Negative section of review

Cottage was dusty and there were cobwebs behind furniture. Cold even in early June, could not get heating to fire up and one of the ensuite showers wouldn't get hot. Mattresses had seen better days Pretty courtyard garden for cottages spoiled by nasty plastic garden chairs an commercial bins. Felt a bit lacking in thought and TLC Glad we were only there for the one night.
