We were happy for the value of a budget hotel that was actually clean and pretty updated. We had a double bed with one bunkbed over that. Staff were friendly and helpful. There is an area you can hang out and play cards or whatever, eat breakfast if you pay ahead and things you can buy (drinks, snacks) with 24 hour staff. Each bed had its own light switch. Quiet.

There was VERY little room to move around, however, and we did not know that we would be required to get undressed in front of each other to take a shower. It wasn't a deal breaker, but would rather not. We also only had comforters and would have liked a flat sheet as an alternative because we were hot and sweaty with the comforter on and cold without it. Despite being in a complex, most of the restaurants were closed when we arrived (was not that late) so walking around in the rain to find food wasn't fun but we managed. The neighborhood is a bit industrial and not that clean. Hallways smelled musty.

Staff were utterly miserable and unwelcoming. It was not pleasant. Outside looks dreadful, inside better. Tiny room, incredibly noisy above. No sleep

Given that this is a high end property and the fact the price for a week was hiked by nearly £600 because it encompassed a bank holiday, I might reasonably have expected: A barbecue - the book in the house says there is one The path steps and door step to be swept clear of chippings so that your feet don’t go from under you The patio to be swept clear of last year’s beech nuts, twigs and grass cuttings The conservatory doors and windows to be swept clear of cobwebs The rain water guttering not to be in need of repair A proper wardrobe and chest of drawers A dedicated place to store food in the kitchen, like a larder A tv that plays more than Prime and Netflix A landing light switch outside the back bedroom. It’s positively dangerous making your way back to the back bedroom in the dark! Not to be told in the book in the house to take our shoes off at the front door. We didn’t. We are grownups and used our common sense instead.
