The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.
2
When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.
3
After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

No complaints, value for money, plenty of showers and toilets (I read it's a problem in some hostels in Edinburgh). Kept clean. Didn't bother to cook, but the kitchen is there if needed. Very good location, the castle on the doorstep almost. Would happily come back.

Comfortable house for a big family . Great location close to the lake. Ample car parking for 3 cars . Attractive decor . great to have a good garden space for outdoor meals and play for kids. Well equipped kitchen .

Remote management meant ineffective resolution of washing machine problems. Mouldy linen in the laundry off-putting. Penny pinching policy on toilet paper inconvenient at best. Location was enough to win over these shortfalls. Barrage of superfluous emails from Sykes Cottages mainly nuisance value.

We needed somewhere for an overnight stay and took a trip down memory lane after stopping here nearly 30 years ago. It was clean, comfortable and the staff were helpful.

I first found difficulty in communicating with the hotel, had an email ignored. So I tried to call them with the phone ringing out three times with an hour between each attempt before I was dealt with. It was difficult to park the car as the car park was full due to them having. wedding booking at the same time and I had to park my car in the disabled bay until some of the guests had left. The staff initially gave us the wrong room key and sent us in to a room on our own for us to be met with another guests belongings and dirty glasses in the room. It became apparent that the guest was still on site, so we returned to reception to find out they'd given us the wrong room, which could have been a problem for the other guest had we have not been honourable people. The staff then gave us another room and asked me what I wanted but in a manner that suggested they were offering us compensation for the mix up. So I asked if we could have a late checkout, which we were granted. Then upon staying in the room, we had lot's of difficulty with the window as it wouldn't close easily and the weather rained heavily, bringing a lot of water through the open window. We dried the rain ourselves. The shower wasn't consistent in temperature and went icy cold, forcing us to adjust the temperature manually for us to then be almost scolded with extremely hot water. The tap in the sink also spun when turned on and caused water to cover the bathroom floor, which we also dried ourselves. Then the worst moment of all came when checking out. My girlfriend offered to pay for the breakfast, which I accepted and the staff then charged us an extra £30, which turns out was for the late checkout that I thought was granted as compensation. They charged us without telling us and took the money before we could object. For this I am absolutely disgusted, especially because it caused an unpleasant moment between my girlfriend and I and for that I am totally unforgiving.

The barman in Amy’s Bar was rude and arrogant. He pandered to groups and ignored female travellers. I left after waiting 30 minutes for him to serve me. He walked past me a few times so I left. I reported him to reception when I checked out.

Perfect location

If I had to have one dislike it would be uncomfortable pillows. Too hard. Had to put a request in for breakfast in the way of a form. We were at a funeral so couldn’t. Hence we paid for a cooked breakfast but couldn’t have it. So had to just have egg on toast.
