The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.

When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

Mick and Lynda were on hand for anything and were very helpful and lovely people. The room was very clean with nice furnishings. Easy to check in and plenty of free parking in the area. Nice and clear instructions from Lynda before arrival. There is a mini kitchen with a mini fridge and they provided a pint of milk for arrival. Very thoughtful. Also some cereals in the cupboard for breakfast! Tea and coffee also provided. Comfortable bed with quality bedding. Great area and very close to the Chinese restaurant Great Wall and the North Euston Hotel if you want a drink in the bar. Nice seating area in the room to watch tv.

The bathroom sink drains very slowly. Booking.com could be more clear about which room you have booked. Give us the name of the room when we book - which they didn't. And the photo on the booking on your account isn't the room you get. They should be pulled up on that!
Southend-on-Sea, United Kingdom

The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. When we arrived the receptionist upgraded us to a Superior room at no extra cost. The room was on the third floor and very spacious. The room had a balcony, was on the corner nearest to the town with a view out to the sea.

One of the bay windows within the room was sealed at the top with tape, the wind howled through the gap during the night. Southend on Sea needs investment,on the evening of our arrival we walked on the front. There is a lift on the promenade to take you down to ground level which is helpful. We walked on the Southend side of the prom for a good half an hour. Looking out to sea was dowdy with a view of industrialisation across the water. The shops on the front consist of mainly fish + chip shops and burger bars and amusements and quite a few pubs. The frontages are not appealing. During our walk there were several souped up motorbikes (with loud engines whizzing up and down the road. Similar (or maybe the same bikes) kept us awake during the night. We also heard a car that sounded like it was doing doughnuts with wheels screeching, a couple outside on the street arguing also woke us up. None of the doors seemed to shut within the hotel, they all positively slammed. We had so little sleep because of the noise that we cut our three night stay down to one and returned home (we had travelled 3.5 hrs both ways). Apart from the problem with the doors that don't shut quietly I fully appreciate that the external noise of the hotel can not be blamed on the hotel. As I have mentioned earlier the staff we had the pleasure of meeting were all very nice, polite and helpful. It should also be noted that we think it should be made clearer that there is no on-site parking at the hotel and that the recommended car park belonging to the shopping centre, that is literally across the road, is in my opinion expensive at £20 per day.

A pleasant and polite welcome from the reception team. The room was basic, as you would expect from a budget hotel, but it suited my needs for the few nights I stayed.

When checking in I was told that the restaurant would be closed that evening, I asked about the following evening and was told that it would probably be closed then too. One of the reasons I booked the Campanile was so that I didn't have to go out to eat. The receptionist said that I could order my own food to be delivered and eat it in the Bar, or my room. The carpet in my room could do with a shampoo/ deep clean. The walls to my room were thin, this became apparent when the residents next door decided to try out some "intimate activities"!

Great little house. Bit out the way and shop and chippy shut around 6pm but was aware of this as I have stayed before. Private parking. Great views.

I booked this accommodation as it had a washing machine. The machine was absolutely filthy and I refused to wash my clothes in it. The floors were dirty, felt like it had not been cleaned prior to our arrival.
