The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.

When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

Everything about this cottage was exceptional, the hot tub was very clean, the facilities were very clean and very well equipped! Only place we have stayed that has provided towels, shower gel, washing up liquid etc (not that this is a deal breaker for us!) … we loved the decor of the cottage also, very modern but original at the same time … the added touch of Prosecco and chocolates on arrival was lovely and went down a treat!

Great spa facility. Had upgraded suite which we thought was excellent, v spacious. While obviously an old property, they’re spending resources to regularly improve it which is great to see. Had our door lock upgraded in the midst of our stay, not at all an inconvenience. Rather, it was great to see!

1) The breakfast was quite disappointing and not good value. It’s £16/person for Continental style which is ok, but £22/person for a basic cooked breakfast, w a £6 supplemental charge throughout it for such things as smoked salmon, avocado etc, PER ITEM. And anything except black coffee is an additional £4. (Ex: a basic plate of eggs w smoked salmon and avocado would be £34, plus £4 for a latte, making a good cooked breakfast and “fancy” coffee £38/person.) Unlike most hotels these days, it’s not a buffet, and thus you get what you’re served. More so, whilst they claim children eat for only £6, we didn’t actually see this written anywhere and the kind waitress wasn’t aware of it either. It makes the experience quite costly for a family w small children, as we didn’t think potentially paying £22 apiece for each of our two children to pick through their cooked breakfasts and perhaps settle on just a bowl of corn flakes, was good value. For a family of four, it’s already approaching £100 each morning, and thus know one can find much better value in the area, as we elected to do. They can do better. 2) The bar was somewhat unusual w varying prices each night for the same items. I finally put my foot down when being charged £10 for a 125ml glass of wine, when I’d paid £11.50 for two the night before. Were they taking the mick because we were up from London? 3) Driving up from London, we called from the road to tell them we would be arriving as early as 2pm and if a room were available, we’d love a courtesy early check in if possible. At check out. we were surprised to learn of an unmentioned £10 early check in fee, and protested at paying given the room wasn’t ready and we weren’t able to check in until almost 3.30, 1.5 hrs later. They cancelled it when we kindly reminded them of that fact, a bit cheeky of a charge anyway.

One particular front-office staff member was extremely sombre and came across as extremely unfriendly in comparison the the other amazing staff.

So close to the theatre, the reason for our trip. 5 minutes walk. Room warm and comfortable with everything you'd need. Lovely continental breakfast, plenty of choice.

Quite difficult to find with all the lanes. No parking on site but only a short walk to the carpark. Steep stairs up to the bedrooms.
