    It starts with a booking

    It starts with a booking

The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.

    Followed by a trip

When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

  • And finally, a review

    And finally, a review

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

I have a food allergy and notified the staff of that at breakfast on our first morning and the next day when I sat down for breakfast, they said "your breakfast is being prepared" without me having to remind them or anything, which was really great. That kind of service extended to all staff we interacted with”

  • Kloster Malgarten

    - “It’s simply amazing! Such an old building with a soul, restored and redecorated in the original style. The heart of the owner and his persistence created a one of a kind place. I felt welcome and could relax and de-stress and I lingered for hours not wanting to leave this place.”

The staff there was always so helpful and made sure to accomodate our every need. They would go above and beyond for us and made sure we were always happy. A big shoutout to Edi who works there for always taking extra special care of us and cooking us an amazing and tasty breakfast. • Sleep&Fly

    - “Close to the airport and great value for money, super clean.”

  • Casa da Ribeira Cottage

    - “The apartment is clean and cosy and has blackout curtains and fly screens (for windows and doors) which we appreciated. Furthermore there is a nice private terrace and shared garden. We didn't meet João in person, but communication via Booking went very smoothly. Also the self check-in is very easy. As for parking: there are a few places in the driveway, but there also is a convenient public parking space nearby where we parked our car every night. The apartment is located in a quiet street, but is still pretty close to the city center (1.5km - 2km) where you can find all necessary supermarkets, restaurants, ... And it's also located quite central on São Miguel which makes it the ideal base to explore the entire island.”

The location is great, the apartment has everything needed. Good to have the USB charging options, there are all amenities and apartment was clean. Instructions to get in were clear, and customer service was fast to reply. We didn't use the kitchen. There was a coffee machine and some coffee capsules.

Unfortunately it was very noisy, even early in the morning. It seems they were clearning the rooms or doing some works very close to our apartment, and you could hear everything. It would be good to do this later, since the check in is only at 15.00! Internet was very poor (we were on the ground floor), and the apartment was quite warm. Bed is really small for 2 people, and not very comfortable. No option to store the bags at check out, and too many messages and emails from the property, that makes it really hard to understand what is important and what is not.

As a student of the university, this hotel is perfectly placed as near to the train station, the university itself, and the Main Street with shops. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of food. Leia was excellent and is a credit to the hotel.

No water at all in our room (second floor) No night staff, waited at the bar for almost 45 minutes, pressed the bell repeatedly. Fire escape was used by people smoking. Two men shouting in foreign language outside my room at midnight, despite my do not disturb sign, and it turned out one of them was the night porter! Took a reservation for dinner in the hotel but when a tour bus arrived we were told that there wasn’t any room for us and we had to sit in the bar. We were offered a discount for our meal for this inconvenience but when the bill was paid, no discount had been applied.

The first room I was in (an upgrade to a deluxe double room) was spacious but on the ground floor (with torn window blinds and a bit of a smell) so I wanted to move to an upstairs room. I got taken around several rooms (mostly feature rooms as the hotel was really full) by the super helpful guy on reception. The first room would have been fine - a feature room - but the window blind wouldn't open and in fact the chain mechanism was broken (should have been picked up by housekeeping). So we explored a second room (1110) - a newly decorated feature room which was huge - so I took it. The guy left the master key and came back with my own key to the room. On his return I said there weren't any coat hangers so he said someone would bring some. I was meeting someone downstairs so when I returned, there were only some plastic bin bags outside the door. No coat hangers. There was also no suitcase stand. But I did have two ironing boards! The carpet was filthy by the door. Two of the plug sockets didn't work. There was bird lime all over the back of one of the chairs in the room. Really quite a poor state of things. Oh, and the aircon system was all in Polish! Needless to say it couldn't stay set to a temperature lower than 25 degrees so room was really hot overnight and because there was a balcony to the room, the windows didn't open so I had to have balcony doors open all night. Not ideal!! So despite a comfy bed, I didn't sleep much. I was only there for one night so didn't bother with getting someone up to sort it all out.
