We didn't meet João in person, but communication via Booking went very smoothly. Also the self check-in is very easy. As for parking: there are a few places in the driveway, but there also is a convenient public parking space nearby where we parked our car every night. The apartment is located in a quiet street, but is still pretty close to the city center (1.5km - 2km) where you can find all necessary supermarkets, restaurants, ... And it's also located quite central on São Miguel which makes it the ideal base to explore the entire island.”

  Staff were so lovely and couldn’t have been more helpful! Took my mum for a weekend away to celebrate her birthday with some shopping, staff were incredibly welcoming from the second we walked in, it was mentioned briefly in passing when we were checking in the reason for our stay and when we went up to the room they had left a note in the room wishing her a happy birthday which was such a lovely touch that put a smile on her face. The bed was very comfy, and the breakfast was nice (especially the chocolate croissant!) The location couldn’t have been better for what we needed.

  There was a fair amount of stairs but that wasn’t a problem at all, and staff always offered to help with luggage so it really wasn’t a problem for us

  There were some nice thoughtful touches in the room, like a mirror with a light, curling tongs, wet room slippers, toiletries. The shower was very good in the wet room bathroom. There was a separate kitchen room, with kettle, washing machine, microwave and tea/coffee/biscuits/jams. It's newly decorated.

  On arrival at what I thought was a hotel, it turned out to be just a number on a door, on a busy street, with no sign on it indicating it was the Thistle City Inn. I had had an email from the owner, but had to wait til someone came out to let me in. It is slightly mis-described, as it's a room in a flat in the basement, like an apart-hotel, but with a separate kitchen shared with the other rooms. The entry system is complex, I warn you. The room I had was above a night club/bar, so while ear plugs are provided, it is very noisy until 3am.

  Gillian was easy to contact and replied quickly we had been let down by a booking and we were able to book Bliss and be in apartment within half an hour. It was immaculately clean and lovely furnishings . A short taxi ride into the centre was quite reasonably priced.

  Huge room, comfy bed, underfloor heating took the end of May chill off. Great en-suite. Fabulous location if hard to believe it's quite so far up the narrow road! Super gardens to wander around and sitting room to relax in. Very friendly host, amazing breakfast.

  Nothing! Only slight thing was the satnav taking us beyond the current entrance - the board at the entrance implied to us that it was only for the cottages not the main house, this needs to be made clearer perhaps.

  Property was in a lovely wee village. Great village pub serving food. Nice walks and great area. Perfect location for visiting Alton towers - only a few minutes drive.

  The boiler makes a rattling noise throughout the house constantly. It is so loud & VERY annoying, especially when the source of the problem is in the twin room for children. The property itself wasn’t that clean - dusty/cobwebs etc that hadn’t been just since the last residents. We knew there was no TV in advance but some may find this a negative, we took our iPads but even a small TV for evening would be an addition.

  We were promised a reserved disabled space because of poor mobility and this wasn’t done so when we managed to park in the one space we couldn’t go out for fear of not having that space available. We appreciate it’s on a hill and slope but if you promise something you should honour it. The hotel does look ‘tired’ could do with an upgrade but appreciate it costs money this did not spoil our enjoyment however
