The host was very friendly and explained everything really well. We loved the location. The train is within 20 minutes walking distance. You can take the train to London centre and be there in about an hour. We slept comfortable and enjoyed the kitchen and living room. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. We would recommend this place for most people and stay here again.

- The shower is a bit small but we could manage. It can imagine it would be a problem for larger people though. - Noise from the train is constant and very loud. Again we weren't bothered but it is something to consider for some people. - The indoor camera is really a no-no. It made us very uncomfortable in the hall and has got to go.

Cannot recommend James Clow B&B more highly! Christina and Desy are such amazing, welcoming hosts. The room, overlooking Belfast, was stunning and had a super comfy bed. Breakfast in the morning was superb. Will be back!

Very comfortable room and bed. So close to terminal 2 - perfect for getting to your flight easily. Just a couple minutes walk from the lobby under cover.

Restaurant prices very expensive. But lovely food.

Nice apartment, fully kitted out, good location, clean, parking, easy access, tea, coffee, utensils, etc. I would definitely book again.

There was just a drop of soap left and the pillows weren't the best, which was the only downside as otherwise everything was great. I am guessing the lack of soap was a one off oversight, so nothing major there. But yes I would recommend a couple of thicker pillows.

We booked for a week but were given a small room with a tiny shower without any drawer space so we spent the week living out of our suitcases. This was not easy as the opened cases took up most of the floor space in the room. The receptionist met a request for a possible move to a bigger room -or being given a chest of drawers - with a surly refusal. Her attitude was unpleasant and unapologetic. We spent a considerable amount of money on the week at the Lion and though on previous occasions (we'd stayed several times for a couple of nights each time) we had enjoyed the 'idiosyncrasies' of the Lion, the implacably belligerent attitude of the receptionist, did nothing to encourage us ever to return. Our room (No 6)was directly above the bar area where the rock band played at the weekend. It was so noisy that the vibration from the bass guitar and drums could be felt through the floor and when we retreated to our room to watch TV the noise drowned out the television sound - despite the sound levels being turned to maximum. A complaint about the noise was met with the statement that we were informed in the booking this was what you must accept from a town hotel. Booking.com provided no such information. We checked this point after being given the previous information. The continental breakfast provided as part of the package was uninspired and quickly ran out of basics, such as muesli, which had not been replenished by the following day. So, two days were spent without any muesli being available for guests- despite a convenience shop being within walking distance of the hotel. We came to expect a 'take it or leave it' approach to any comments we made to staff and left the hotel disappointed, dissatisfied and convinced that we would not be back. To have rectified our situation should have been simple - and a sincere apology would have helped us to leave Belper with a more favourable memory of your hotel.

We swam in the pool.

The room was cramped and uncomfortable. The towel rail in the bathroom was 2 feet from the floor. The reception staff were rude - they initially greeted me then ignored me when another guest came to the desk. The pool was shallow and crowded; staff there walked through the pool area in shows and didn’t put protective coverings on their feet. Breakfast wasn’t good either. There are a vast number of rooms at the hotel so it’s busy and noisy.

Only disappointed was with Booking.com …… I booked this stay weeks ago and paid £77. Very annoying when the couple checking in before me was charged £62 …… Big difference and I will probably now be now considering using alternative arrangements for reservations.
