The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.
2
When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

It’s absolutely beautiful. Both of us work in sectors that are heavily involved in art & history so we genuinely love an authentic period property, and the hotel oozes charm from the second you glimpse its façade. Fabulous position on the sea edge with a gorgeous view. We were smitten with the building , and with Dunbar, which we hadn’t visited before but found to be a real gem of a place

The only complaint was other clientele. Namely a large party of obnoxiously arrogant ‘gffawing’ golfers, who seemingly ‘owned’ the small hotel bar, plus had departure on the same morning as us and you literally couldn’t move in the entrance hall for all their dumped sacks of golf accoutrements ( again so they could claim the bar area as private space for themselves)

Room was clean, large, comfortable and the decor was so wonderful. Very happy and bright room. Location was very quiet and central to everything. Not expecting self check in but I got the hang of it.

The food was excellent, both dinner and breakfast were amazing. My en suite bathroom was very nice and extremely clean. All the staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful.

The decor particularly going up the stairs was tired. The TV in my room didn’t work. As the shower is over a bath the provision of a grab rail would have made showering feel much more safe ( I have several replaced joints and my balance could be better)

Room was quite small and the fridge was just a box.

Was able to reserve a bottom bunk bed
Negative section of review
No access to a bathroom, toilet paper wasn’t refilled despite asking multiple times, got verbally harassed by guest for brushing my teeth in the kitchen sink. (The female bathroom was in a part of the building I could not access, there was no other source of running water, nothing) . Was in a room with 6 guys who live there permanently by the looks of it. Noise until 4am. Tried to then hang out in the pub and the security guard tried to charge me 15 quid to buy food from the food truck. Awful unsafe experience.

Property location was ideal
Negative section of review
External area virtually not usable; Doors that cannot be closed due to poor fitting ironmongery; Poor floor finishes to stairs and landings that played a large part in making the property feel ‘basic.’; Poor property manual which felt like an afterthought.
