Staff absolutely brilliant and both in the hotel and the pub. Always welcoming and helpful whatever the challenge.

Shortage of staff meant that those staff there had real difficulties in managing particularly in the pub. The first day there on the Sunday we were told we could not eat in the pub as there was a shortage of staff. We did, after complaining get in to have a single course. Sadly one of the meals was only just edible as the pie was dried out. Seeing the difficulty we did not complain. Day two air conditioning did not work. Could not fix promised a fan but never arrived as fan broken too. Two days later we ate dinner in the Pub again but were told shortage of staff would mean a half hour wait for food. We waited 45 minute to even get a drink (after chasing) and an hour to get food. The beer served was cloudy and not drinkable. The one member of staff said he did not know how to change the barrel then came back and said we have not got another barrel anyway (Green King IPA). My wife's food was nice but not complete. We were told by the staff there next morning there was no Chef to prepare breakfast so only cereal available. We had to go into town to get breakfast after helpful advice and apology, and were told the £20 cost of two breakfasts would be deducted from our bill. On checking out we found we had been charged £20 extra in error. That was removed and we were told the £20 refund for breakfast would be sent back to the card the booking was made on. That has still yet to happen. A shame really but not the staffs there problem who were trying hard. We have stayed there before and had really good service sadly not so good this time.
