Positive section of review
Hosts were very friendly and hospitable. Good location - the free parking at the back of the guest house was already taken so ended up in the car park opposite, which we could use free of charge until the morning. Was given a flask with fresh milk for tea/coffee. Generous full English breakfast freshly cooked - good quality ingredients, the orange juice was very sweet, and the coffee came in a mug (instant not from bean) so just the one cup!

There was some confusion with the booking. I used booking.com and searched rooms for 2 people. We were offered a cheaper option which turned out to be a single room (which had a double bed but was apparently too small for 2) so we had to pay more for the room. The room we got was small and the shower cubicle has been squeezed into the toilet area and there's only a small access (max.50cm) to get into it. Bathroom facility is tired and could do with modernising. The bed was a small double and you could feel the springs! The tv wasn't working but the owner kindly came and replaced it. Otherwise fine for a night.

I spent the week with my mum to relax and mentally prepare ourselves before I start chemotherapy this week. It was perfect. The breakfast was fabulous every morning. The lovely staff were friendly, always smiling and always went the extra mile. Nothing was a problem. The cleanliness of the boutique was second to none. We will definitely be back.

Central location. Lovely layout - bedroom at the rear of property, living/dining to the front. Modern decor, comfortable seating for relaxing and dining. All the kitchen equipment necessary, including fridge freezer, oven, hob and microwave. Easy to work heating, good bedding and towels.

Sofabed was not very comfortable. Some bulbs were missing. TV remote was temperament and tv reception was not great.

The room in an older Edinburgh building was large and comfortable and the ensuite bathroom was more than adequate. The continental breakfasts were delicious and the host was more than welcoming.

The hotel is far below the expected standard, Because of flight delay, I arrived just after midnight. There was a long wait at the door to be let in. The elderly lady who let me in could not work the POS machine, so she insisted on me paying cash. She asked me to go out and take cash from an ATM somewhere outside. Good enough, I had enough cash on me to pay. The carpet in the room was worn, dirty and the whole experience was just awful. I needed a bed for the night, they somehow managed to give me. Not sure whether the bed was comfortable or not. I think I was too tired to tell.

Difficult to find apartments and the road works going on on the Monday morning were obviously unavoidable but very proud as right outside our apartment
