Plenty of room for our family of 8. The high chair and child table and chair were useful. The children enjoyed playing in the garden and it was nice to have a patio table and chairs for outside dining. There’s a well stocked corner shop just a few minutes walk away as well as bus stops and train station. Quiet area, a few minutes walk up on to the common for a beautiful sunset.

Location was great, easy access to the sea and Portsmouth old town / Gunwharf. Rooms comfortable, good facilities as advertised, shower hot and good pressure. Quiet inside when we were there. Convenient check in and check out, easy hotel access.

Had to pay a damage deposit as booked two rooms. Got it paid back within a couple of days though. Had to provide photo id too.

Amazing bar crew! Very friendly, flexible and helpful. In fact, so helpful that they have to also act as the reception team. Apparently the management team thought it was a good idea to have the bar staff do everything after 17:00.

Poor management. There was on-going roofing and repair works going on when we checked in. The scaffolding is right outside our window, with a ladder that not only visually blocks the view out, but also lands perfectly on our window sill. This fine ladder offers a direct route from the public courtyard up our bed without any means of security. The hotel had not informed us of this situation nor showed any sign of apology or intention to rectify this error upon my requests. A few other minor complaints include the fact that the bed is clearly not the size of a double bed, and the room is not 20sqm as promised on the listing.

Location. Immediate area. Great for dog walk from the door. Field with picnic bench. Lovely walk down to the lake. Key-safe useful. Parking. Sofa comfortable. Large TV. Nice I nduction cooker hob. Great laundry facilities.

The very barest minimum supplied eg no salt, pepper, oil, clingfilm, 4 teabags, small amount of instant coffee (damp!), no hand soap in the bathroom, one hand towel for 2 people for 9 nights stay, 2 very tatty old tea-towels. No coasters or coffee table. Insufficient power sockets. Lamp in second bedroom too far from (bunk) beds. Had to unplug it to use the socket. The shower was dirty and blocked, enabling only a very quick shower before the shower tray filled up and all the muck from the drain came up. Asked to separate recycling material but not told where to put it - in the same skip as the rest of the waste? Not much in the way of local info/ timetables etc.

Hotel was very clean as was our room and bathroom, bed very comfy and quiet so slept very well. Staff pleasant, hotel very close to bus station and other amenities, happy with our stay.

The cooked breakfast was not good, decent choice of cereals and juices. Would have preferred individual pots of yogurt instead of the big bowl left uncovered for hygiene reasons but it is a budget hotel so you can't expect 4 star food. It was nice that tea, coffee, hot chocolate is available at any time in the breakfast area. The air con was not great, cannot get it below 19°C, it didn't seem to work very well at that and with non opening windows the room got stuffy, weather was not particularly warm yet as only May but l would imagine it would be very unpleasant in hot weather.
