When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

The proprietor was friendly and welcoming and allowed us to check out later than the stated 10:00am and we were able to use the communal kitchen to cook our own dinner in the evening which was helpful as hardly anything around in area and we had been driving for several hours and were tired. But arguably this is basic hostel stuff so we did not think we were entering a hotel where they have actual professional staff we could approach. The living area was pleasant enough and they had a small selection of board games and puzzles which were useful to us as a family with a young child.

Overall a disappointing stay and overpriced. No wardrobe or hooks in room or bathroom to hang anything like towels or clothing and no hairdryer. Decor really tired and not very clean. Bathroom tired and grubby with old almost empty shampoo bottles from previous guests, hot water stopped working during a bath and again during a shower which was hugely annoying and not what one expects at this nightly rate (higher than Ibis and Holiday Inn on similar dates). No way to open window in bathroom to let out steam. Very creaky floorboards above us which kept us awake. Misled into thinking breakfast was included as stated: in actual fact it’s a very small range of cereals, one type of cheap sliced bread from a budget supermarket, margarine and instant coffee sachets. You are also asked to wash and put away your dishes afterwards which was really strange and removed any feeling of this place being a hotel. It’s an Airbnb or hostel at best and it should be listed as such. When we asked for teabags in the morning we were greeted by a random person who did not even work there but he did kindly go out to buy teabags and find a hairdryer. Overall a very odd crumbling house that has been turned into a hostel.

Host was great, provided us easy steps to access room. It's above an off license (although no alcohol license), and close to a One Stop for quick access to essentials. Room is perfect, and the outside section is a game changer, so private, and there's now 4 chairs! Xbox is a nice ad on, you can play a couple games of Fifa with the lads. Beds are comfy Windows open nice and wide (apart from bathroom)

*these are all minor faults, it was a great stay but I want to be honest to give the best feedback* Front door is a bit of a pain to open, it gets jammed. Bathroom window gets no ventilation due to the outside area being built. Shower hole was full of hair so it became a bath every time. Kitchen equipment could be better. Had to get additional essentials like toilet roll and bin bags. TV could do with a slight upgrade.

Good location, simple instructions and easy to access rooms. Bed very comfy and room large. Shower room clean enough. Nice and quiet on the edge of town.

Room was cold, radiator didn't cut it. Large windows hard to close and curtains difficult to pull. Lack of tea, about 4 bags, etc, and cups not clean. Strange combination of toiletries available.

Location and surrounding lovely and relaxing Dining room in main part of hotel so a short walk from the older building Staff very helpful

I chose this hotel for the leisure facilities which when I went to use the pool I was advised I would have to pay for - there was one person in the pool Only time these facilities are free to guests is between 7 and 9am and the pool was busy Poor mobile reception and also no wi-fi in some of the rooms - when I asked if there was any way to connect as travelling for work I was offered another room above the old reception which was lovely

Room as described, well furnished and clean - lovely welcome from staff - on bus routes and near two overground stations

Things to be aware of - Bit noisy (literally above the Hackney Empire), check in closes at 10pm (may be ok if you are travelling for leisure and can get there earlier)

The beds are very comfortable.

Very tight to go in the room as the door is to near the door so I damaged a fingers opening the door. The location is the worst. I dis not liked that it said women only and in the morning it was a man in the reception, this should be notified as a few ladies reacted to it and that was a big conversation there.
