The West Highland walking Way from Glasgow ends here and the Great Glen way to Inverness commences. Lots of walks from low level to high mountains with bike trails and plentiful buses to lochs and mountains. The town sits on a loch amidst mountains and the loch is actually a 30 mile inlet of the Atlantic. Fort William is not a destination for city viewing tourism. It is a tourist destination for people who like long outdoor walks or hiking in the mountains. Also, Fort William is a tourist destination for Harry Potter fans, since the Hogwarts Steam Train runs between Fort William and Mallaig, and the famous Glenfinnan viaduct is located not very far away. Please keep in mind that the Harry Potter train is not cheap, and the tickets need to be booked well in advance. You also need a car to travel to the Glenfinnan viaduct.Guest review byAnonymous
