The staff was very friendly and welcoming, gave great recommendations for the area and fulfilled our special request (two duvets on one bed). The interior is well thought out and nicely decorated. The location is pretty central and you can park on the street near the hotel (for a small fee).

Beautiful well kept building set in marvelous well tended grounds. The room was spacious and very well appointed with a lot of attention to detail giving it the feel of luxury. Afternoon tea was high quality and with so much food you have a doggy bag to take some of it home with you. Staff bent over backwards to be friendly and helpful . Great value for money

FAQs about hotels in Plymouth

Life By the Ocean Wave

From prehistory to the present, the very essence of Plymouth has been inextricably linked to the sea. The Pilgrim Fathers departed from here and named their new Massachusetts settlement after it, and Sir Francis Drake famously finished his game of bowls on The Hoe before combatting the Spanish Armada.

Western Europe’s largest naval base – HMNB Devonport – is in its natural harbour, and in The Barbican fishing boats bob up and down by cobbled streets lined with historic buildings. Jacka Bakery here is the oldest in Britain and there are plenty of galleries, bars and restaurants, though Union Street has the best nightlife.

At one end of the street is the Theatre Royal, and from the other ferries depart to France and Spain, passing the Mount Batten peninsula and offshore rocks that once housed Smeaton’s Tower lighthouse, now in Hoe Park next to the Royal Citadel.

Overlooking the park is the Lord Mayor’s residence, once home to Waldorf and Nancy Astor, and other street and building names are reminders of Plymouth’s illustrious connections.

Other attractions include the National Marine Aquarium, the City Museum and Art Gallery and Grade II-listed Saltram House. All are easily reached from Booking.com’s Plymouth accommodation, including luxury hotels with swimming pools, cheap guest houses and country houses with parking.

What Guests Said About Plymouth:

There are lots of things to do in the area.

There are lots of things to do in the area. You can walk around The Hoe and the historic Barbican. There are lots of little independent shops there as well as different eateries with, of course, fabulous fish and chips. There is also a Chinese restaurant on The Hoe, called The Wet Wok which is absolutely fantastic. The service is second to none and the food is gorgeous. There are boat trips which take you too different places including one that takes you around the dockyard and warships. The city centre is a bit run down as is usual with most town centres these days but there are a few coffee shops and small restaurants. There is also the pannier market which is lovely to walk around.

An interesting city to visit for a short trip. Plan ahead what you want to do to make the most of your stay. Shopping is disappointing, but it's the same in many UK cities and towns. Very good theatre. Loved the lido and the trip to Drakes Island. Good range of restaurants too.

Loved our room. Loved the William Morris wallpaper!

Loved our room. Loved the William Morris wallpaper! Great staff - friendly efficient discreet clearing table and engaging with patrons. We enjoyed our banter with your “pocket rocket” unfortunately we didn’t get to say goodbye as she had days off but we loved her recommendations Re drinks. D of C so charming & historic & stunning from the road. Fantastic food at every meal and full English b/fast best ever! Now at another place & scrambled eggs watery & bacon not cooked as well as yours was. Compliments to your chef. Plymouth Hoe was impressive but we drove to places like Dartmoor (scary roads), Lands End (interesting but had crappy Cornish pasties - over cooked prob yesterday’s offerings sold for £7 shame on them!) Stonehenge (traffic jams on motorway & hundreds of people walking around it - both times we drove past and didn’t stop). Love your country side & buildings!!

The place we class as our 2nd home. Plenty to do, especially walkable. The Hoe when the sun shines beautiful, the Barbican, shops, restaurants and pubs plentiful to suit every budget. Town centre plenty of shops still open. Best of all a good base for seeing the countryside and coast of Devon.

The Hoe, Barbican (hopping over to Cawsand Beach by ferry) and the amazing Tinside Lido Swimming Pool were perfect to hang out. Plymouth is not as touristy as Exeter but a great base to get to many amazing sites around Devon, Dartmoor and the coast.

We stayed here for the summer sessions and it's literally a stones throw from plymouth hoe. Suzy and Ian were very welcoming. You can park outside, go and obtain a parking permit from the hotel. It's £8.00 a day and you have to leave by 10am, or you can extend the parking via RingGo app. Room comfortable and clean. We stayed in room 7. Thanks, Suzy and Ian 😊

Fantastic location but if staying with a car its a bind, see below. I would probably score the hotel higher if we were staying without a car. This hotel really has the best views of the city and Plymouth Sound. Probably biased as it's my home town.
