Cockermouth is a pretty town with many buildings of interest. Wordsworth's birthplace is there, but it is closed in winter. The rivers Cocker and Derwent flow through the town with banks of daffodils in spring. A terrific little town, great local shops, interesting Wordsworth Museum. Pic of us dressing up in Museum! Good town centre parking. Lots of pubs and places to eat. There's even a theatre. The whole place is old but very interestingly pictureque. We will make a habit of coming back

Broughton Craggs is a few miles from Cockermouth and well placed for the Northern fringe of the Lake District. I was walking some of the English Coast Path from Bowness on Solway to St Bees and the location was fine for doing that stretch in bits.

There is an amazing butcher which backs on to the apartment. The unit has most things one needs for self catering. Basic but available. It is a great base for walks and tours around the Lake District. The Cumberland sausage from the butcher is superb. There is parking on site which is a bonus. Access is interesting to say the least. Big cars will be challenged. Done once it becomes easier. Oh have I mentioned the butcher?

Very cosy living space with comfy sofa. The kitchen and bathroom were all new and nicely kept. The host was really nice and friendly too. The place is set in lovely and peaceful countryside, yet very easy to get to from the main roads. The rooms and beds were in general comfortable, but the theme of country luxury and indulgence was somewhat spoilt by the use of budget hotel fittings (like cheap branded soap dispensers being affixed to the walls in the bathrooms and plastic shelving in the bedrooms). We left an item of clothing when we departed and the hotel were quick to advise us and arrange for its return which was appreciated.

The keys were easily accessible at the lockbox. We booked the property especially because of the hot tub …and it didn’t disappoint .. after a long drive from Cornwall it was the perfect place to relax. Cockermouth (2 miles away) is a very pleasant town and a good shopping centre, and much quieter than the touristy towns such as Keswick. A lovely shower with plenty of hot water and space. The location is fantastic. Very quiet area; embedded in fields and trees. The hotel has a wonderful outdoor area with a gorgious view. The room was clean and tidy.
