The Royal Hotel - Clacton On Sea, hotel in Great Bentley

Located on the beachfront in Clacton-on-Sea, The Royal Hotel - Clacton On Sea features a bar.

Location was awful, noise from the Pier was so loud. Sea view we paid extra for was pointless as the very large fairground machines completely obscured this. Breakfast ok but tea brought to the table with a teabag in the cup and milk already added

Great Bentley is not over commercialised and has the old English charm that we all love. The village is kept very clean and tidy. There is easy access to coastal towns and villages as well as the excellent Colchester zoo. The only downside is that wifi is not very good in this village, I could not use my phone/laptop at all. This must be rectified.

Great Bentley is really worth visiting, I am told that Wednesday is when many people gather on the "Green", Footballers, Picnickers, classic cars, Harley Davison's even quite a large children's playground tucked safely away....A village with life!

It's a great little village with a truly massive village green. I enjoyed looking round the place and could have used to train to London or to the coast (didn't stay long enough). Fantastic walk to Point Clear on the Blackwater and back - so lots of opportunities to walk, cycle and enjoy the beaches. I ate in the Restaurant 43 and the food was brilliant! Maybe wouldn't park in Jaywick next time.

    Accommodation was lovely.

Accommodation was lovely. Hostess very welcoming and provided everything we needed. Loved Brightlingsea and enjoyed Colchester - had a great Korean Lunch there. Routes in and out of the village easily navigated. Next time would be perfect with just my wife and I!!! - leave the 16 year old at home!

Very pretty village with a large green.

Very pretty village with a large green. On Wednesday nights in the summer there is motor bike meet up on the Green. There is a also a railway station which runs to Liverpool Street I think. It is also close to Lifehouse Spa, Clacton and Frinton.

There is everything you need in the village: a pub, which serves food, a restaurant, a Tesco express, a Chinese takeaway and the railway station. All within a short walking distance in the Jasmine room. Restaurant 23 and the Plough can be recommended. Both serve delicious food. The coast is a short drive away.
