For a place of this size was not expecting a choice of breakfast so the variety was a very pleasant surprise. Nice and warm. Staff were really excellent and found me a room even though problems with the booking.com system lead to them being double booked.

Location is great, just on the back street in Castleton (near the chippy!) Space for 4 cars.
We were given clear instructions on how to enter the property with access codes, and our room was great (at the end of the corridor).
There is a kitchenette in the room, which comprises of kettle, toaster, microwave and fridge, with crockery, glasses and cutlery. We were also given some boxes of cereal and some milk in the fridge, very unexpected and a lovely gesture.
The bed was comfy, very peaceful rooms. The room was a little cold at first, but it warmed up over the weekend.
There was a Smart TV in the room, guess you could log in to your Netflix or Amazon accounts if you wanted, although we didn't.
Wifi worked great (thank goodness as there was no phone signal!)
We will stay again (if they'll have us!)

I thought staff were up beat and nice but not good value for money -------------the breakfast is not a breakfast it was going to be "continental" we were to fill out some form for limited options - I think as I indicated porriage/oatmeal - I was going to have a packet to pour hot water in I think ---- then as it was Friday morning next day - we could get breakfast at their cafe next door - this turned out to be a basic pre-made sandwich to be microwaved and a cup of tea or coffee and maybe some awful looking pastry No this is not what I expected or thought I had paid for or good value for money

Lovely little cottage. Be aware of steep steps upstairs.
Lovely little cottage. Be aware of steep steps upstairs. Couldn’t use log burner as log store locked up . There was no property information as is usually in holiday rentals.
The car park where you could use a free parking pass was full so had to pay, which is no fault of the property.

Excellent location to Mam Tor, Winnats Pass and surrounding walks. Village pretty and quaint with a few shops, tea rooms, restaurants and pubs to visit. Visitors center within the village. We stayed at the Castle, nice enough. Also ate there for dinner and food and service was good.
I'd say Castleton is a place you'd stay for 1-2 nights.

We love Castleton.
We love Castleton. It is such a great place for walking, from a short walk along the river to Hope, to 3-4 hour walks to Mam Tor or Loose Hill (this includes returning to Castleton). And there are some cozy fireside pubs right in the centre of the village with good food. We have stayed overnight at 3 pubs (Ye Olde Nags Head, The Castle and The Cheshire Cheese) and its just great. A few gift shops, but no supermarkets .... which means we are not tempted to do the shopping while we are away! To be honest I don't know where the nearest supermarket is. Have fun in Castleton!

Castleton is a lovely village with lots of things to do and see. You have to like hiking and hills especially. There are numerous pubs all offering similar ware and all having a warm ambiance that makes you feel welcome.
The village is full of history and is truly the gateway to a lot of hiking routes, mines, and just general nice English things you can and should do

A lovely little place!
A lovely little place!
If you like waking or friendly pubs a great location!
We went on a Friday and lots of the shops closed, not sure why?
Only small not much about to ‘wander’ but a couple of tea rooms
You can easily do a lovely loop of Castletown in under an hour.,
I love staying at YHAs in general, but they are all different: Castleton Losehill is special it is a beautiful property perfectly located in the Dark Peak- for me it's a great stopping point halfway between work and home. But more than that the villages around have tons of lovely pubs, shops, and history as well as being in a beautiful part of the world where you can go for walks long or short. YHAs are no frills but for 30 pounds to have your own room, have it be quiet and free wifi- you can't really complain.
The location of the cottage is spectacular. It is central to everything you want to do in Castleton. There's a view of the castle from the single bedroom - a bonus we hadn't expected. The cottage is extremely clean and cozy. The parking lot is conveniently located across the street. Everything we needed - from dishes to laundry tabs - was already in the cottage. Instructions and recommendations supplied by the owners were very thorough and appreciated.
Lovely hotel/pub. Staff were amazingly helpful and attentive. Room was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. Great base for exploring the local area, we drove but if you arrive by bus the bus stop is right outside so it’s very easy to get to. Breakfast was really good, we also ate here on the Friday night and it was the best burger I’ve had in a very long time, my partner had the pie and he agreed the food was excellent. Would stay again.
Nice friendly staff, excellent breakfast and the addition of a new bar for Castleton carried out in a tasteful way, we like the fact that the traditional old reception room/guest room has stayed the same. Best of luck with the new Swiss Tap and I think it will thrive as it has fair prices {for Castleton} and a good range of beers on tap.
Everything! The cottage was very nice and picturesque in a great location, right in the heart of Castleton. The cottage was very clean and comfortable with great facilities, including a great kitchen and bathroom, with no issues whatsoever. We would happily stay here again!
Dunscar farm is such an amazing location near castleton town and the valley is all around ready to be explored. The staff at the farm were very helpful and friendly with made a big difference to overall experience. When i go back I will hopefully stay at dunscar farm again.
Everything. The room was clean, spacious and had excellent views of the Derbyshire Dale's. The breakfast was excellent.
The location was perfect, surrounded by beautiful countryside and only a ten minute walk across the fields to Castleton and all its eateries.
The hotel was situated right in the centre of Castleton which made it the perfect location for local walks without needing the car! The rain shower was a fantastic treat after a long day of walking. It was a lovely staycation and great value for money.
Location in Castleton village was excellent with plenty of free on-site parking. The room and all the furniture was spotless and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was very good, with an excellent shower for pressure and temperature.
The location was great whilst the rooms were nice, clean and the bed was huge.
Parking was available at the hotel and they’d even reserved a table for us in their pub which was clearly very popular and the food was fantastic.
Castleton is a very pretty village in the heart of the peaks. Lots of pubs to choose from. Menus very similar and we ate at three and thought Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese was top. The room was comfortable and we slept well.
The Peak Hotel is in a great location on the main road in Castleton. Great access to local facilities and walks. It was also dog friendly - the only place (other than cottages) that we could find
