Loved the decor which was in keeping with the hotel. The bed was comfy and everything was spotlessly clean. The towels were large and fluffy, a real treat.
We ate dinner at the hotel and enjoyed tasty food, generous portions and our meals were piping hot. Breakfast was equally as delicious, especially the bacon.
Our host, Kim was very welcoming.
The Lookout Rye is in the center of the historical town of Rye, high on the East Cliff with views across the river. It has free Wi-Fi and paid parking.

Located on a very good spot. Room is good and clean even though things look kinda old as it is the style of the place. Bed comfy and room not too small. One of our room is on the first floor and probably one of the biggest room but the view is not as expected. Our other room is quite nice, with view of the look out. Our booking come with continental breakfast which is good enough. The staff are kinda stiff then our expectation but it's ok.
The sand between your toes. Sky and beach as far as your eyes can see. Wonderful food made with love. Deeply comfortable beds in beautifully thought out bedrooms. Daily yoga and wellness classes.
This hideaway is located in the center of Rye and offers well-designed rooms, local wines and a restaurant menu infused with Mediterranean zest.

The breakfast was very good , my only small point was that my poached egg was hard boiled . Avery small disappointment so not really worth mentioning . Great atmosphere and the property is presented very well .

A walk around the town of Rye is a must to see all the old buildings and shops.
There are quite a number of restaurants in Rye to choose from. Some of the 'owners' or managers need a course in customer service....Called into one to check his menu and when we said we were just looking he was not so helpful after we said we are just looking for a place for tonight....
However, we stopped into a small cafe for lunch and had great potato soup, which was excellent on a cold day.

A perfect weekend spot.
A perfect weekend spot. There’s lots to see, but it’s manageable in a weekend, with plenty of time built in to enjoy the culinary delights on offer - there are some very good restaurants and cafes. Rye is very hilly and there are lots of flint, cobbled streets, so those with reduced and/or limited mobility may find it challenging to get around. Many of the buildings are listed and so not always the most accessible - don’t let this put you off, but just be aware.

Rye is built on a hill so naturally has steep paths and many steps. However the local council try their best to discourage more elderly visitors by having closed most public toilets and arranging car parking so that visitors staying overnight have to be up early in the morning to get to the car parks at the bottom of the hill by 8.00am or risk a substantial fine. In view of this we would avoid staying overnight in the town in future

We go to Rye a couple of times a year, we either stay at the Mermaid Inn, if they have an offer on. Or The Kings Head. We really like the Kings Head as it is really good value for money & staff are always most polite & friendly. We particularly like Rye for its Character & charm. It is always bustling.
A place for a perfect little break.

A charming town with a bustling vibe, full of independent shops. The restaurants are many and varied. There was plenty to do, even in January, though some attractions, such as the visitor centre was closed (tho online it said it was open). The church and castle are lovely. The church tower has spectacular views all round. Loved it, even in the snow! We were surprised to find a 3 screen cinema, showing films throughout the day and evening - a delight in the bitter cold.

Beautiful town, If you want to stay in a n original Tudor house with modern facilities for an affordable price, this is it.
Parking near, but you can load and unload at the front door. We managed to park on the street every night.
Location: Handy with a car -- about a mile into town. Parking free at the hotel, and not expensive at cattle market lot, near the train station in Rye, and free after 7 PM at most other lots.
Great-looking oast towers on the hotel, containing round stone rooms for reception & dining. Generous and tasty Full English Breakfast included. Room and bed were clean & comfortable, but with odd separate shower room.
Not far from Great Dixter -- a lovely and unique house, garden, and nursery.
Lovely spacious room - we were given a disabled room. Some noise from the street but nothing too bad - we wore hearing aids.
Lovely ambience and beautiful courtyard. Breakfast was amazing. A particular mention to Anna at breakfast - welcomed by a lovely smile and she was so happy always makes everybody else happy. Hotel very clean and very central - the George is the hub of Rye.
Large clean flat conveniently located on the high street. Nicely renovated, comfortable, and accommodating all in a wonderful location. Full kitchen facilities, lounge area, and separate bedroom. There was even an iMac to use, which was convenient and not something that was expected. I would love to stay here again upon my next visit to Rye.
Staff were friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is excellent and there are beautiful views from the front of the hotel. The bed was very comfortable and the room was equipped with a kettle. I was grateful to have both a shower and a bath in my bathroom. The hotel is a short walk from good restaurants, shops, cafes and pubs.
Warm, friendly, clean and comfortable.
Food- breakfast lovely varied menu. Bakery for sit in or take out option very good.
Food -Excellent.
Staff- Friendly, helpful and made the stay perfect for our Christmas break. Will be recommending the Whitehouse Hotel, Rye to friends and family.
Very good food, extremely friendly and helpful staff. Historic Grade 2 Listed Property with all the character in a great location and within easy walking distance to the historic Rye town centre. Very attractive period properties adjacent to the hotel.
We had a pleasant stay at Playden Oasts House. The hotel is full of character and the location is convenient for visiting the Rye area. We really enjoyed the meals - both breakfast and lunch - and it was great to hang out in the bar area too.
The host, Javed was so accommodating & helpful suggesting things to see in Rye. His B&B is totally charming, beautifully designed & spotless! It was a wonderful stay! His breakfast menu was full of choices & the food delicious as well.
Beautiful property in central location to all of the amenities in Rye and walkable (via scenic path) to the beach & dunes at Camber Sands. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious and our host Brenda was so friendly and accommodating.
Good value for two spacious rooms for our family of 5 including one larger family room. The hotel is well located with an easy less than 10 minute walk to the historical centre of Rye. Staff are friendly and professional.
The staff were exceptional, grounds and leisure facilities are lovely. It’s also very clean. we used the hotel to access Rye which isnt far away and it was great to have the dog with us (he lived the lawn area).
Breakfast was fantastic and location is great (bearing in mind Rye is pretty small).
Staff are fantastic, probably the best of the hotel. Rye is a small town so no problems at all with noises at night.
The room was nice, good bathroom, comfy bed. We were right at the top of the house and I was a little concerned about fire escape. Great to have the parking available at the hotel as Rye isn’t easy.
This is a stunningly located country house hotel in beautiful grounds with friendly, warm, competent staff and an amazing pool, sauna and jacuzzi. Wifi was good. Breakfasts were AMAZING.
The location of the hotel was very central and allowed to reach to any other place in Rye with a short walk. The hotel has a pub in it which serves great food. Bed was comfy.
The mermaid inn, is a 600 year old inn, run by modern managerial principles. It was a fantastic and fascinating stay and we would recommend Rye snd this hotel to anyone.
Lovely hotel in a great, elevated position in Rye. Friendly, helpful staff.
Delightful , clean room. Comfortable bed and great views. Very good breakfast.
