The hotel is almost opposite the railway station and bus station, so is very easy to find. The hotel interior has a very high level of cleanliness, is very comfortable and the staff very polite and civil. However, it is an older building and no room, restaurant or bar can be accessed without negotiating several flights of steps and stairs, so if you have any mobility issues or cannot manage stairs it may be advisable to look elsewhere. In all other respects the hotel is very good indeed.

The most unusual place we have ever stayed in, in the best way possible. Absolutely perfect for the area and the Whitby vibe. Quirky doesn't even come close! The lovely staff and the perfect attention to detail, the fabulous breakfast in bedroom service, the views of the Abbey and bay. I could go on but you need to experience it for yourself to be able to get the awe of the place. I would say though open the desk if you are in the Lewis room, cheeky! The bed was the most comfortable bed we have ever stayed in! Like a cocoon. The big deep bathtub was glorious. Thank you so much for our last minute booking, we were blown away by the whole experience. If we come back to Whitby it will only happen if we can book with you.

Whitby was especially exciting during the festival week with dancing, folk music, singing, workshops of many kinds. But it always has great character with it's winding streets, quaint shops, and lovely local eating places, Then there's the opening bridge that lets boats pass through to the sea, and of course the 199 steps up to St Hilda's Abbey if you can make it. Wow, what a view! There are lots of buses, including an open topped tour bus, and I enjoyed the lovely run through the heather moors to Scarborough, taking in beautiful coastal villages. A great place to visit, best in fine weather!

I liked the piano, and the breakfasts were great and tasty.. There was a good variety on the television once you worked out how to use it. Whitby was great there was a lot to see, and do and folk music week was on and a lot of pubs where to hear it, and majorettes at the bandstand and on the village square. Favourite places to eat were The Angel 😇for fish and chips and the Board Inn for.different meals, but that was going downhill with being taken over, we think. It is easy to get round Whitby , even with my partner who has a bit of arthritis.

We love whitby , but never visited in the summer.

We love whitby , but never visited in the summer. It was busy, but pleasant strolling around old town. Buying smoked kippers. Whitby lemon iced buns to eat on a bench looking over whitby bay. This was our 3rd visit to whitby and are already planning to return in October this year. It has certainly captured our hearts, full of history and beautiful places.

the hop on/hop off bus tour. the variety of eating and entertainment venues. the friendliness of everyone. We visited on folk festival weekend and, although we are not into folk music, the events such as Morris dancing and pub entertainment were really good. We would recommend the Fisherman's Wife seafood restaurant and Harry's Bar.

The hotel was very nice. Everything was easy to find: restaurant, toilets, reception. The staff on reception were helpful when we needed things sorting. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We asked for a sea view but were pleasantly surprised when that view also included whitby abbey, harbour and whalebone arch. Everything we went for was visible from our window. The breakfast was very nice and the dining room was a pleasant place to sit and eat.

Fabulous hotel, very attentive staff, comfortable room. We were given a room upgrade on arrival as it was my husbands birthday. Breakfast was lovely and the spa facilities were great. Very relaxing and quiet hotel, couldn’t hear any noise from other guests. Location was nice and peaceful but within easy reach of Whitby and Sandsend.

This property offerred privacy and was better than most hotels or airbnbs that we have visited. It was decorated. It provided more than enough space due to having a living room and kitchenette and if I was going back to Whitby, I would not hesitate to return to the Loft.
