We had a very good experience, especially because of the hosts: very warm, welcoming and helpful people that made us feel at 'home away from home'. the house is beautifully decorated, sparkling clean (honestly, we haven't seen one speck of dust in 3 days we've been there). The location is superb, close to many attractions but tucked away from noise and crowds, the breakfast was delicious and the bed was super comfortable. They have beautiful outdoors sitting are where we had one meal and loved it too. Our room had a shower and toilet outside, which wasn't what we expected, but it stoped being a bother after a short while. Overall a great place to stay and we will definitely be back if in the area.

Lovely old Inn, well maintained and Sean particularly was very helpful. Nice location, plenty of secure parking and the breakfast really good! All in all by far the best lodging on our trip!

Although the owners are very new and the kitchen renovation was underway but not finished the owner with the limited facilities cooked us dinner. Her own recipe. Fantastic. Plus she did not charge us a penny ! You simply would not experience such a generous gesture . The location is beautiful.We will be back for sure

Beautiful historic property, in a wonderful location. The owners were lovely and very welcoming, they were very helpful with anything that we asked of them. The continental breakfast was lovely and everything was very well presented. Our suite was lovely and clean and comfortable. They do a very good job of maintaining such an old building! The gardens were beautiful, so many birds and butterflies, idyllic. Great that there was parking at the property too and such a fantastic location for walking into Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay or Sandsend. When we visit the area again we would definitely stay here again.

    Goathland is a really nice place to be, when all is quiet, early morning or evening time it is absolutely magical. The Inn on the moor and the Mallyan Spout hotel are lovely places to eat and drink unfortunately I can’t say the same about the Goathland hotel. If you like walking then Goathland is a great place to start.

    It's £4 to park there but several places to eat and drink, the Hearbeat locations and the steam trains. Worth a visit even if you are not interested in heartbeat or trains. Sheep graze throughout the village so dogs must be on leads.

    This hotel is a real jewel within the North Yorkshire Moors.

    This hotel is a real jewel within the North Yorkshire Moors. Located in a quiet but delightful village, it is perfectly situated for exploring the moors or coast, and of course the added bonus of the North Yorkshire Railway, Goathland station just a short walk away from the hotel. Once visited, most will return again and again.

    Beautiful quirky scenic village with sheep roaming free. It is worth visiting for the steam trains, the Heartbeat connection and some lovely walks. If you stay it is a great base to explore the Whitby coastline.

    Beautiful village very relaxing.

    Beautiful village very relaxing. Lots of little cafes and shops. We ate at the Inn on the Moor, the food was excellent with plenty of choice. The North Yorkshire Moor Railway runs through the station at Goathland. The station is lovely and takes you back in time to the days of steam railways. There are many walks around the moors from the village [long and short].

    A wonderful part of the countryside, if you are looking for...

    A wonderful part of the countryside, if you are looking for peace and quiet it's perfect quite a tourist attraction but doesn't spoil the atmosphere. So many places nearby to keep you occupied if you like, steam trains, wonderful scenery, lovely walks or a short drive to Whitby for fish and chips.

    Beautifully presented, comfortable and welcoming. Great breakfast with fresh baked and local products. Warm drying room for wet gear. Being at the top end of Goathland it's away from the busy centre and reminiscent of Goathland pre Heartbeat with sheep wandering happily (?). The hosts are very friendly, helpful and building up a lovely guesthouse business.

    We had a lovely stay here, we stayed in a recently updated room and it was very nice. We were upgraded on arrival too which was a nice surprise. Room very clean and bed comfy. Hotel very dog friendly, dog package is a great idea. Food was very good, inc breakfast which had lots of choice from a menu.
