Famous for its association with Robin Hood, Nottingham is in the very heart of England. The outlaw’s legend lives on, with many city streets and buildings named after him and his Merry Men. A Robin Hood statue sits at the foot of Nottingham Castle, on a small hill with historic pubs built into it. Also cut into the rock are visitable caves extending under the city.
The Old Market Square is the largest in the UK and becomes a city beach in the summer, with rides and a small pool. Permanent fixtures are the impressive Council House with its Exchange Arcade shops, and the several Nottingham hotels with parking in the surrounding area.
During the 19th century, Nottingham was an important lace-making center and many Victorian warehouses and buildings remain in the Lace Market area. Neighboring Hockley is home to the National Ice Center and independent shops, while the biggest shopping centers are Broadmarsh and the Victoria Center.
In the western suburbs, by Nottingham University, Wollaton Park surrounds an Elizabethan stately home, while east of Trent Bridge cricket ground is the National Water Sports Center in Holme Pierrepont. Night time is busy if all the students are in town and there are homeless
people outside pubs etc. Police are visible presence. It is a vibrant city and the usual nigh time caveats apply.

The University of Nottingham campus is a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city with its grassy spaces, views of the lake and beautiful trees. We had a car, and we were provided with a free parking permit for the duration of our stay. Transport around the city is easy by tram or bus.
We ate at the Orchard restaurant on campus where the menu is good, but there is also a small well stocked supermarket in the Portland building.
Wollaton Hall and deer park nearby is well worth a visit with lovely walks, a nice cafe and the house has interesting exhibitions and friendly informative staff. There is also a childrens; outdoor play area.

None of the shops display the number of the street that they are in. I spent some time trying to find a particular shop. I found the street, but without numbers on the properties, I walked back and forth. I did not visit any of the 'popular places' listed below.
A shopping centre is being demiolished in the middle of the city, involving walking around a building site. Speaking to someone the next day, I gather that the work has been going on for some time.

As an older traveller I found the city centre a little daunting (I lived there in my 20s). I think it has was is called a "vibrant" atmosphere. Lots of different cultures rubbing shoulders which was lovely, and tons of students. Nice to go back for a visit

Very clean and pleasant traffic free city centre.
Very clean and pleasant traffic free city centre. Some nice high quality shops, with several empty unoccupied shops as in most city and town centres. It is over 40 years since my last visit and I feel sure it has improved since my last visit.
The location, perfect for a theatre visit with lots of local choice for pre theatre meals and after theatre drinks. We were upgraded to a premier double which was really comfortable. Clean, roomy, with a huge bed! And the best night's sleep in a long time. Breakfast was substantial and relaxed. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Midday checkout meant no rush, and once parking was paid we could have as long as we liked to explore the city centre before picking up the car later. Really good value for money.
Great central location for city centre, just around the corner from motorpoint arena where we watched Rick Astley (amazing night)!
Hotel situated on a nice quiet road. Visited Pizzamisu, a few feet from hotel, great meal 🍕😋
Helpful friendly hotel staff who kept our bags after checkout whilst we went to Fox Café for lovely breakfast yesterday!
On the doorstep for shops, cafés, restaurants & bars 👍
Spacious, light, well equipped and very clean. Shower is great. Tons of cupboards for luggage or kit. Ubers into town take 10 mins and arrive within a minute or two even on Saturday night. Much better value and nicer than a hotel in the centre. Extremely quiet from other residents and outside noise. Will definitely stay again when in Nottingham next.
The room was clean and spacious. It was nice to have different little areas, e.g. kitchen, desk, sofa, bed. Free hot drinks and croissants for breakfast were great. The hotel was close to the city centre. Late check in was possible. Carlos and the reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Beds were really comfy and we had a great nights sleep on both nights. We liked that there was a variety of different foods to chose for breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful during our stay. Loved how close the hotel was to the city centre and everything was a short walking distance.
The hotel is in the city centre With a tram stop at the end of the road. My room was spacious and had a double walk in shower. All the amenities worked although there was no fridge in the room. The water pressure was good and the room service excellent. Will definitely stay here again.
The location of the hotel was walkable to the city centre with easy access to public transport. Was also a lively bar across the street and local shops just down the road. Staff at the hotel were very helpful and bar staff were particularly friendly and chatty.
Location was great, it is just outside the train station and the city centre is very much walkable. The staff were really friendly and offered to show us the main sights of the city on a map and we were able to check in a few hours early.
We used this hotel as our go to place for the past 5 years. Its a reasonable price and a very short walk to everything you need weather it's the Motorpoint arena or the city centre. Car parking at a charge is right opposite.
The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the owner Mr. Malkiat was amazing. He helped us to make our stay comfortable & he is a good person with better understanding. It's very easy to access City Centre.
it was comfortable and not that far from city center. the staff was so kindly behaving and cooperative.
in term of cost, it was affordable if we compare it with other hotel within Nottingham city center.
Very large room with huge bed and kitchenette facilities and high tech control pad for tv and aircon. Compact but usable en-suite. Hotel was in the perfect location for exploring Nottingham city centre.
The hotel was a few steps away from the railway station. My visit involved finding the location of a talk being held in the city. The hotel staff helped, by supplying me with a map of the city centre.
Reasonably priced hotel with spacious room with a view of the Castle. Excellent location for our trip to the Nottingham Arena.
Handy for the town centre too.
