I’ve always been found of Whitby but it was nice to see how much my 5 year old enjoyed it this time, really good beaches (great weather helped) and he really enjoyed the boat rides and goth vanilla ice creams ;)

We have been all over the East coast but Whitby is our go to place . We personally love it,from the little Whitby jet shops to the numerous pubs and restaurants . The view of the harbour and Abbey is stunning . When we were there the weather was fantastic which always helps and there are some lovely beaches close at hand .

We walked the Cleveland way from Whitby to Robin Hoods bay...

We walked the Cleveland way from Whitby to Robin Hoods bay and then the cinder track back. The walking was lovely, cinder track is much flatter but less scenic. We visited all of the tourist sites including the lovely little museum in Pannet Park. Beach was clean, but check your tide times. There's easy crabbing in the harbour. We visited in August and you could hardly move through the streets at times because there were so many people, I think visiting at a quarter time of year would have been more pleasant.

I loved watching the kids enjoying themselves catching crabs...

I loved watching the kids enjoying themselves catching crabs they loved it, they would of done it for the whole time if I'd let them. We visited the Abbey for first time which we enjoyed. We found a brilliant arcade for the kids which was not expensive at all. The kids ate at Wendy's one day and they had some lovely fish and chips the next day. While most places were having a big storm with very strong winds and rain we were very lucky to escape it because the weather was beautiful very sunny and very warm. We will be visiting Whitby again as it is one of my favourite places.

    Lovely place.

Lovely place. Great seafood (we ate at the Magpie Cafe) and a beautiful location at night to walk along the bay and beach. St Mary's Church is unusual and worth a look as are all the independent shops. We'll definitely come back for another stay!

lovely place, verrrry busy, holiday season.

lovely place, verrrry busy, holiday season. I did not get the fascination for all the people chucking nets in for crabs. What do they do with them, chuck them back in ?? all areas along sea edge seemed to be laden with crabbers. Loads of signs about feeding gulls which is good, a bad thing to do. Some people need to get their noses out there phones and look where they are going and seeing the surroundings. Was nice

The Captain's Rest is a cosy pied à terre located in the heart of Whitby: a perfect location in terms of accessing the vibrant heart of Whitby. The accommodation is more than adequate like a hotel room (but much larger). It is very good value for money. The room has a fridge and kettle etc Wi-Fi and TV and excellent storage space plus a desk! The system for accessing the property was very good but took some "getting used to." There is a public car park literally 30 metres from the property which costs £9 for 24 hours.

Our visit was a girlie weekend, celebrating a 60th birthday. The hotel is a stone's throw away from the train station so easy to find when you arrive in Whitby. Very friendly and informative greeting from reception at check in. The rooms were spacious, very clean and we all commented on our bathrooms smelling lovely.
