We explored the beautiful Wawel and Castle Cathedral, enjoyed a relaxing cruise on the Vistula River, and took day trip each to the Wieliczka Salt Mine and Auschwitz. Each place was deeply impressive and full of history. Fantastic Food! Krakow was absolutely charming.
Krakow was absolutely charming. We found so many things to see and do there including the main square, the cathedral with the hourly bugler, the Jewish quarter (where we enjoyed an incredible meal at Michelin-starred Zazie Bistro), Wawel Castle, and wonderful restaurants. It was a convenient location to get to other local tours to the Salt Mine and Auschwitz as well. I would like to visit Krakow in the off-season in the future. August is an incredibly busy time, lines are long, it was HOT (90 F) for the amount of walking involved, all of Europe is on vacation in this month, tours can be challenging to arrange. Pack your patience for August travel and book EVERYTHING ahead of time. But Krakow? I highly recommend Krakow. Excellent city with a lot of history .
Excellent city with a lot of history . Many things to do throughout the city . We didn’t get everything done within our 3 nights 4 full day stay . So this is an excellent excuse for use to return and complete some more sight seeing . Beautiful city, very easy to get around. We did a day trip to Auschwitz, which was necessary. Also tour of the Old Town with Walkative - our guide Mikal was excellent. We also did their tour of the Jewish quarter, but the guide wasn't as good and the tour was over-long (2+ hours) for what there was to see there. Restaurants were very good, although personally I'd go a long way to avoid eating a dumpling again. We especially liked Camelot Lulu, just north of the main square, although it's better for lunch/dinner than breakfast. The museum with the Leonardo painting is really only for art lovers, probably Polish ones, and people desperate to see that painting, as the other works there are old masters or earlier and not by artists that I'd heard of (and I'm not a complete novice on art). We intended to visit the underground museum on our last day, but it was a bank holiday and closed - but it does sound good.Guest review byMichaelUnited Kingdom - 10.0
City center is great and there are a lot of things to see...
City center is great and there are a lot of things to see and visit. The center does not require any transportation, everywhere is close by walking. Auschwitz Birkenau and Wieliczka Salt Mine are highly recommended. A tour for those would be much better because they are far from the city and it takes a long time to complete both in same day.
