An Italian Masterpiece

Best-known for the stunning Duomo, Florence is full of amazing buildings and its historic center. The Ponte Vecchio, a 14th-century bridge holding a multitude of shops on its edges is a stunning example and provides a truly unforgettable view.

Dig into more of the city’s historical past at the Basilica of Santa Croce, a Franciscan church full of great artwork and the burial place of Italian greats: Michelangelo and Galileo. The Uffizi Gallery is one of the world’s finest art museums and the Pitti Palace is not far behind.

For great dining, the Santa Croce district has countless options and the unique lampredotto is Florentine fast-food with a 1000-year old history. Many consider the local gelato, Italian ice-cream, to be the best in the world.

Of all the places I have been in Europe Florence is the best. Loved the Cathedral and dome . Walking the streets and cafés was great. There is so much to do, and you never get bored. Loved the Leonardo de Vinci interactive museum and the mid evil bridge with all the stores. The only thing that was negative was the noise at night and sound of glass getting thrown out in the morning. Lone J

I recently stayed at a&o Hostel, and I must say it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. Although it is called a hostel, the quality of service, comfort, and cleanliness truly gave me the feeling of staying in a luxury five-star hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff greeted me warmly and made me feel welcome, which instantly set the tone for my stay. The rooms were incredibly neat, clean, and well-maintained, with modern design and attention to detail that exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere of the hostel is vibrant yet relaxing, making it suitable for all types of travelers—whether solo, with friends, or as a family. Every corner of the property reflects care and professionalism, and the facilities are top-class. What impressed me most was the value for money. It is rare to find such an affordable stay that offers the comfort and service level of a luxury hotel. The hostel is not only budget-friendly but also provides a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment. The convenience of its location and the availability of amenities like common areas, Wi-Fi, and social spaces added so much value to my trip. Overall, I can confidently say that a&o Hostel stands out worldwide. It is more than just a place to sleep it is an experience of hospitality, comfort, and excellence. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a stay that combines affordability with luxury. I truly loved my time here and will definitely choose a&o again in the future. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Worth every penny, and in my opinion, one of the best hostels in the world.

Exquisite people, so many hidden treasures. Get up very early and see the real Firenze on foot - just walk. Seek out the farther reaches beyond the river via the Rome gate and walk up the hill then round to Michaelangelo Mount. By the time you make your decent to the river you will be in love!

Florence is a beautiful city in the Tuscan landscape with beautiful culture, good food and delicious wine. The main attractions, such as the cathedral, the Uffizi Galleries, the Pitti Palace and the Galleria dell'Accademia show the culture of the Medici and the birth of the Italian Renaissance. It is advised to book in advance to avoid long queues. Besides these activities, the city is perfect for just wandering around and exploring the pretty streets with the palazzos, delicious restaurants and lots of shops for souvenirs, clothing, and the iconic Florence leather bags.

It's overun by tourist and the locals charge for it.

It's overun by tourist and the locals charge for it. It's a tourist trap. Stay way outside if you have to and walk in to see the art. Forget these - what to see in 3 days things. There is so much to see you cant fit it in in 3 days. Just to see the uffizi you need 1 full day. That's alot of standing on your feet. Also these galleries are old; what I mean is that they are not adjusted to the current new world - so its all phones in the air, people rushing about taking pictures without thought of what they are looking at. The lighting is outdated - what I'm saying is that you need to plan. The city center is unesco - its cobbled and wonky - it kills your joints. Plan. The artwork is obviously amazing; but read up a bit before. Split your days accordingly. Maybe try to do less and you will end up doing more or at least you will get more for your money. Bottom line - forget staying in the city center. Plan your trip - by doing research on what to see. Enjoy it more.

We travelled around Italy and stayed in numerous places and this was by far the best! There was nothing that Sara hadn’t thought of. It felt like she was a friend welcoming us into her home. It was comfortable, spacious, close to city centre and good transport links. It was everything we could’ve asked for and more and Sara was a very warm, welcoming and responsive host. My advice to anyone looking for accommodation in Florence is to stop looking around and just book this one!

Cestelli is a gorgeous hotel in the centre of Florence. In terms of decoration and ambiance, it's one of the most authentic places we've stayed in Italy. Alessio and his wife were wonderful hosts and gave us some great tips. Everything worth visiting in Florence is within walking distance, so the location is pretty much perfect. We will absolutely visit again!
