Grand lobby and room. Very tastefully designed blending in modern and Venetian elements with a high ceiling. Might be the nicest room we have stayed at. Very spacious which was surprising considering we were expecting Venice hotels to be cramped. Located a minute away from the main busy streets but that's enough to give it a feeling of peace and quiet.

Venice is stunning and unique but be prepared for crowds and lots of mosquitoes in summer. Despite many warnings, we had no safety issues at all. Keep your belongings close & all will be fine. Vaporetto transport is exceptional & reliable though best to buy a Venezia travel card or it is expensive.

Venice has a unique dreamlike magic.

Venice has a unique dreamlike magic. Maybe it lies in the water, the boats, the colours, the streets. A decaying city? Maybe, but I agree with Peggy Guggenheim who said it is better not to have a lover in Venice as Venice will take his place, demanding all your love and attention. On a practical note: If a few days in Venice, buy a vaporetto ticket for multiple days, it's great value and the vaporetti takes you everywhere in no time - saves you walking too much and getting lost! Have a plan of what you want to see and stick to it. We were distracted too many times and did not see or do half of what we had wanted to.

Venice is such an enchanting city and totally worth visiting for 2+ days - depending on what you want to do. Avoiding the tourist places and tourist spots is the key to happiness! Most tourists come in for the day between 11-4pm so plan things outside of that and during the day plan to go to spots where the day travelers are unlikely to go. There are a ton of amazing museums, neighbourhoods, adjoining islands.. it is what makes Venice unique for a city on the water!

Venice was a dream come true.

Venice was a dream come true. I've always wanted to visit the city built on water and cruise through the streets on a wooden speed boat. I was there 2 days and did it. I will never forget and would most likely revisit. A lot of people prior to trip said it smells bad. But I didn't get the smells they were talking about. The gelato remains the best in Italy no matter where you go. Most of the restaurants had good food except for one we sat outside right next to a canal. They had the location but food wasn't good. Have to definitely go away from the canal and busy area to get real authentic food. Shopping was reasonable and willing to work a good deal. I would stay away from the murano tour and go to the islands yourself so you can spend more time. Don't buy glass from where they make it. The store right next door was less. The 2nd island was just an old church and have to pay to use the wc and had some fast food there which could've totally been avoided. The fisherman island i would've spent most time to walk around and eat at of there many restaurants. I wish I took a street tour instead. The boat was crowded and only had 50min time on each island

Although incredibly busy with tourists (as expected), it is a great city to wander and enjoy the culture. Wished I had taken the time to go to some of the other islands like Murano or Burano. Maybe an extra 2 days would have been suitable as 1 & 1/2 days is not enough.

Accommodation in Venice is extremely expensive in general. I think that Hotel Rossi is the best place to choose if you are on a budget. It doesn't have to offer much(no view, it is a small room, a little bit old and the beds were cots, the bathroom was nothing special) but if you want to rent a rather cheap place to have a room to shower and sleep is the perfect choice.
